Can i replace the harddrive with a SSD ? What kind of HDD does it have ?

I tried to upgrade my Canon HG10 with a KingSpec 128GB SSD 1.8" ZIF Drive from Ebay ($98.00) but the Camcorder can't find the SSD.
So it's not possible to initialize the SSD.
There is a 64GB SSD on ebay from KingSpec, where the seller stated, that it will work.
Will try this one and will let you know.

YES. The drive is a 1.8" ZIF interface disk. The one that came in your camera is a 40GB rotational disk and it can be replaced by another hard disk (larger capacity if you want) or an ZIF interface SSD.

Here is a link to a video showing how to do this.

No, it uses a micro hard drive which can only be replaced by an authorized canon repair station

HOW OFTEN??Should you defragment?Do I have a HDD or SSD hard drive??How do I find out??Does defraging SSD destroy your hard drive quicker?

If you use a proprietary defrag system like iobit.com, defragging everyday keeps the filing cabinet in good order cutting down on search time and saving wear on the hdd. If you download
Speed Up Slow Computer Keep PC and Internet Secure Freeware Download IObit
It will sort out your SSD or HDD for you automatically. We can only tell the type of drive from the computer information list that we cannot see because it is on your computer.

How to install ssd in asus s500ca

Am not an expert in this area. I have a different laptop. I swapped my HDD with ssd.

U just have to open up ur laptop.
Basically ssd can be mounted in three ways. Depends on how ur laptop hardware is arranged and what kind of ssd you install.

U can either mount ssd instead of current HDD, or swap ur optical drive with an ssd or even swap ur WiFi Bluetooth card with ssd. First open up ur laptop. Plenty of videos are available in YouTube, on how to dismantle it. Then choose what type of ssd and simply install it. All the best.

Replacing Server HDD

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/poweredge-r710

Yes, that will be okay.

But a SSD harddrive is much faster, than the old mecanical one.
I know they are a little more expensive, but you will see a speed improvement, you have newer seen before.

Good luck

Trying to start computer with SSD and HDD, NOT happening!

Have you tried going into the bios to see if the ssd is recognized and have the computer boot from the ssd So connect the drive and put your windows disk in and install to the ssd During the install it will scan for drives and ask which drive you want to install on Make sure you check the boot options in the bios to allow the connect drive

Acer AO531h-1766 (884483731411) Netbook, how do I replace HDD ?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5363591&CatId=3988

1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

2) Remove the Keyboard.

3) Remove the Upper Cover. (Palm Rest Cover)

4) Remove the LCD Module. (LCD screen assembly)

5) Remove the harddrive in it's harddrive caddy.

6) Remove the harddrive from the harddrive caddy.

http://www.newircusers.com/aspire-one-ao531h-ba01-dv/

Scroll down a little, click on the title name -
Upper Cover Disassembly Flowchart

Scroll the page down. (Do not click on the Video Download thing. It's cr@p advertisement)

Buy, and use an ESD wrist strap. (Electro Static Discharge)
Connect the alligator clip to a good ground source.

[I connect to an unpainted surface, of an open, empty desktop computer case.
You can set a large metal serving tray, (Unpainted), on the table, and connect to it.
Or you can connect to a large metal knicknack. (Unpainted) ]

Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove. Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
If no multi-compartment container is available, you can substitute with a clean egg carton. Label each egg holder.

SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.
Advise DO NOT mix them up.

If you scroll the main page down towards the Bottom, you can click on - Lower Cover Disassembly Flowchart, and see where the Harddrive is located.

(SSD Module.
Either the netbook comes with a Solid State Drive harddrive, or a SATA harddrive.
Where it states SSD Module shows the location of either type of harddrive )

Scroll towards the lower/middle of the page, and you can click on -
Replacing the HDD Module.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

(I thought there were a lot of good articles on that 1 page, pertaining to your netbook, and that's why I posted it)

Replacing the hdd with ssd

Does your laptop's BIOS support SSDs? The BIOS of some older laptops won't work properly with solid-state drives. Unfortunately, there's no easy rule of thumb to follow in this regard, so before you buy, try doing a Web search for your PC model and "SSD compatible" to see if other users have had upgrade issues.

And if everything is fine then here the Video which can help you to Replace Hdd over SSd

What kind of SSD uses the Samsung X360 notebook.

This is the specification of the SS hard disk this laptop uses.

The X360 also features the option of an ultra-fast and reliable 128GB Solid State Drive (SSD)*, which significantly enhances performance compared to a typical hard disk drive (HDD), with a boot time that is 25-50 percent faster and data access times that are 300 percent faster (53 MB/s) for reading and 150 percent faster (28 MB/s) for writing.

Having a similar problem with the La Cie 500gb. Powerbook G4.

The problem that has been inherent with all LaCie external harddrives, is the interface in the case itself.

Interface:
All external harddrives have a Style of harddrive that is used in a laptop, or one that is used in a desktop computer.
Laptop harddrives are 2-1/2 inches across in width.
Desktops are 3-1/2 inches across.
Your LaCie will have a 3.5, (3-1/2) inch desktop style harddrive, inside the case.

There are two main Types of harddrives.
IDE and SATA. (There is also a newcomer. SSD. SSD isn't being used in LaCie external harddrives at the moment, to my knowledge)

Your LaCie will use a SATA harddrive inside it.
This is an example of an average SATA harddrive,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hdd.jpg
The photo of this harddrive is tilted at an angle, that doesn't readily show the interface connection, but it helps to explain.

At the bottom of this harddrive in the photo, and to the left, is the interface area.

Viewing the harddrive, look at the four metal pins on the extreme right of the harddrive. To the left of these pins is the Jumper pin area. (Has a white jumper on two of those pins)

To the left of the Jumper area is an opening, and to the left of that, is a long slot. The first small slot area is for the 7-pin Interface cable.
(Data cable) The next slot to the left, is for the 15-pin power cable.

This 7-pin Interface mates up to socket holes in a connector, of the case of the LaCie external harddrive.

It is this interface connector, inside the LaCie external harddrive case, that is the problem.
Solution?
Buy a quality, in-expensive External Enclosure, take the harddrive out of the LaCie, and install it in this enclosure.

Examples of 3.5 Sata External Enclosures,
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=2780&name=3.5-eSATA-enclosure&Nav=|c:2778|&Sort=0&Recs=10
(From $15 to $35, is a good range for a decent external enclosure)
