YES. The drive is a 1.8" ZIF interface disk. The one that came in your camera is a 40GB rotational disk and it can be replaced by another hard disk (larger capacity if you want) or an ZIF interface SSD.

No, it uses a micro hard drive which can only be replaced by an authorized canon repair station
