Sometimes when this occurs it is due to the unit having the address listed differently then you might think it is. It is usually listed according to postal regulations, meaning it may BE in one town, but LISTED as another town. If the unit cannot find the address as entered, press the back button until you get to city. Press SEARCH ALL and try your address again. This may help. Let me know what it says when you do this.

My gaRMIN NUVI 200 lost it's maps information. How do I recover the information. thanks

You can try contacting Garmin and seeing if they will allow you to download the map again. The file that you are looking for on the Nuvi's flash drive is "gmapprom.img". It should be within the Garmin directory on your Nuvi (using PC to Nuvi USB cable). The file will be very large, around 1GB. More information on missing maps can be found here:

Hi - I own a Garmin Nuvi 260w. Is it possible to use the SD card to download a trucker navigation road map and upload this to my Garmin Nuvi 260w? Thanks for your response.

Hello,

It is possible as long as the map is Garmin compatible.
However even with a trucker navigation map installed, the nuvi 260w will not function as a trucking GPS as the routing and IQ of the nuvi 260w does not have the capability to operate in this manner.
The nuvi 260w does not have a trucking mode to allow for the input of specific truck information like truck and trailer length and gross vehicle weight to use as factors on determining the best route for the specific truck/trailer combination.
I would recommend using a GPS specifically designed for trucking like the Garmin Dezl.

I put oin a new address , hit Go and my Garmin nuvi just keeps re routing me back to where I am.

Hi Nancy,

You might try a "RESET" to solve this problem:

Turn your Garmin on WHILE pressing bottom right corner of the screen. This will reset your data back to factory defaults. This will remove favorites, vehicles, etc. - but maps will remain.

Next, install the latest Garmin firmware for your GPS. This can solve a lot of "strange" problems:

Go Garmin's WebUpdater Page, click on "Step 1 DOWNLOAD", from there choose the Operating System on your computer and either run or save the file, install this software and then run the software with your Garmin connected to the computer.

Difficulty typing? Try a screen recalibration:

Turn your Garmin on WHILE pressing the top left corner of the screen. This will allow you to recalibrate your screen and holding the Use a pencil (instead of a finger) to touch the dots for the best accuracy.

If this was helpful, please rate it "4 thumbs up" - Thanks & good luck!

I own a Garmin Nuvi 1370t, and I have been using it for about 6 months. It has maps for both USA and Europe. About 3 days ago it stopped working properly. It accepts the addresses, but does not calculate...

Call Garmin. I had exact problem and nothing I did worked. They had me load new drivers, software and remove the settings on my Garmin. After about 50 minutes of different things, it now works and can locate satellites and routes.

Wont calculat route

sat nav needs a valid gps signal to start calculating route, even if it found entered address. Address is searched on built-in map, not live gps position. That means, sat nav may have problem with gps signal. Try to reset device to its factory settings first. hope this helps

Wont take a complete address. takes a different route to and fro . how can i set it to take me the same way both ways.how do i plan a trip with stops . do you have a manual. other than the quick start.

I don't know of any Garmin unit that can plan multiple stops. Problem with the Garmin, depending on your current location, it will go either the fastest time route, or the shortest distance. And sometimes, it can take different routes depending on what time of day. Most newer units take traffic into consideration based on time and location. You may want to play with the settings under avoidences.

Compatibility

I am not aware of a GPS unit that will allow you to do that at this time, I'm sorry to say. You might check with Garmin (www.garmin.com) as they do have GPS units designed for more professional travel, and may have a similar feature, but as far as I know, they do not. Good luck.31
