Question about Philips HD-5702

1 Answer

We've tried to start our Phillips Espresso Bar type HD5702/A, but can't seem to get the water to go into the coffee; Are there a step-by-step instructions on how to get it going (we got it from a friend without instructions, and are lost as to how to use it).

There are merely 3 controls on the unit, two swithes on the right hand side and a turn knob on the left hand side. Press the upper switch - power should go on as indicated by a red light, the orange light of the lower switch indicating the unit is heating up. When the orange goes off, you can press the lower switch whitch starts the compressor to pump up the boiling water into the coffee. During coffee preparation the orange light may go on from time to time indicating the unit is reheating. Stop the pump when coffee is enough. When turning the knob on the left by 90degrees the unit will produce steam and feed it out through the metal nozzle at the left of the unit.

Problem with Miele CVA615 Espresso Machine Water

Frankly, there are things wrong that are beyond your scope, mainly because of the domino effect in small espresso machines no matter who makes them. There are multiple thermostats instead of a pressurestat, and on and on trying to replicate what a commercial machine does. In a machine like yours, the slightest failure of a gasket throws off everything. There is better containment of problems in commercial machines, but that too depends on what fails first.

My advice, if you are a home user, would be to get a manual pump machine , such as a Pavoni, (which I have lost respect for since they employed plastic pistons,) or if for a small cafe or bar, something like a semi-automatic job plumbed through a filter. Either way, in all honesty and that has cost me dearly, I warn you about this coffee business, because it is a science and an art.

It is not easy to make a good cup of coffee or espresso, especially.

Yellow light keep coming on when i try to make a cu of coffee

the optical sensor that reads the bar code could be dirty. My Tassimo sensor also needs to be "wet" before the disc is inserted to work properly. Seems that the plastic of the sensor has started to degrade and clouded over. When you clean the sensor just use soap and water. Nothing abrasive.

Descale button not lit, but the machine has been in use for 2 years and manual says to descale. All steps have been followed: solution is in machine water tank. Program is set to FILTER NO/HOLD. ...

You've done it all correct but before you add the solution (making sure to remove the filter), try holding the descale button down for over three seconds. As long as the FILTER NO is your filter setting, this should work. You may want to try to descale more often in the future but hopefully this helps you get started NOW. Best of luck!
