The motherboard you have are did not much in 4GB RAM that's why it cannot start. Try to check the manual of that motherboard if what is the maximum memory can be read to run it normally. Or else checked the compatible 4GB RAM for your motherboard.

I have been given a Toshiba MK 4025GAS laptop, it has 240 MB of RAM. How much more RAM can I put on it?

click start right click on my computer select properties you should how much ram you have installed and how much available it looks like it is capable of 4GB of ram remember when adding more ram try to keep the same brand/type as some motherboards will only work with the one type of ram together and always place the larger ram closest to the cpu central processing unit

Asus U50F has 2 memory slots (204-pin SODIMM).

Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-10600 with a maximum of 4GB per slot
for a total of 8 GB ram.

My notebook has 4 gb of memory but the operation system see just 3 gb. I have tried using 64 bits OS but the issue remains. Somebody told me that could be a bios limitation

Your BIOS is limited to 4GB according to Toshiba's specification, so this is not the problem. You're best to check the RAM total in the BIOS (F2 on start up I think) to clarify this rather than your operating system. If it says 4GB in the BIOS, then dont worry too much. Its likely 1GB has probably been reserved for your graphics instead, so not to worry. If it says 3GB in the BIOS and you definitely have put 4GB in, then try a BIOS update

Laptop shows only 4gb ram & 300 gb hdd

This is the limitation of a 32 bit (x86) Operating System. A 32 bit OS can detect upto 3GB RAM only.

You may either try installing the x64 Bit of XP Operating System or Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 for 32 bit Vista Operation System to resolve the issue.

After installing the SP 1 or 2 of the Vista OS in the Computer, the OS will detect 4GB RAM.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I added more memory to my vista 1501

Hello,

How much memory do you have now? What Vista are you using (32 bits or 64 bits) ?
A 32 bit Windows XP or Vista system won't be able to address more than 4Gb. Actually it is less than that.
Only a 64 bit system will see more than 4Gb of RAM.

Hope it clarifies things.

I cant get my puter to start after i put 4gb ram into machine, both slots work independantly. how can i fix this

First need more info on your setup. your puter may not support 4gb. If it does do you have the right ram. Make sure ram is same type. If so take ram out & reseat it. Make sure to shut down & unplug power from back of computer. If this does not work try putting one stick in & start puter
