Well only thing you could try is giving it to apple store, but not sure even if its worth it as they are gonna charge hell lotta money.
this might sound funny but keep it away for a few days and then plug it back in ... Might work all of a sudden...
Happened to me many times.

Hi,you could try taking to a repair shop, they may be able to change the case over for you!!
It may not help this time but if you ever get anything like this wet again the thing to remember is PATIENCE don't rush, let it dry out properly before trying to use/charge it (2-3 days at-least) . Don't force dry with heat from a hair dryer or placing on a radiator, place it in a bag of dry rice, this will draw out the moisture.
Good Luck

Unfortunately the chances are its suffered from moisture damage.... Apple will have to fix it, its unlikely you'll be able to go to a 3rd party store, or they may not do it correctly. I have a suggestion though. Shut it off. Don't turn it back on. Leave it in a hot press for 72 hours. That'll let it dry out fully. Then fully charge and turn on. If that doesn't work its probably fried. After something suffers moisture damage you shouldn't turn it on until its fully dried out or it gets worse. Sorry man.

Ok so i have an ipod touch 3rd gen. 32gb. and i dropped it in water, it worked for a while and the brightness dimmed out and could barely see anything! and i was like all freaking out and when i put it in...

Well all may not be lost.
First off, I do have to say, if this ever happens again, DO NOT hairdry it. It might just further damage your iPod because of the extreme heat.
Instead, do what I will tell you to do now.
With any electronic item that you might have accidentally dropped into the water, place it into a container full of rice and bury it. The rice will naturally try to soak out all the water in the device. It might need a day or two, but after that, it should start working.
Since your aunt hairdryed it, it is possible that you really did damage it. Try the rice method first. If it doesnt work, then go to the Apple Store and try to get it repaired by them. If they refuse, you can give them your old one and buy a new one with a 10% discount.

Well the screen can be fixed by sending it to apple or one of many other repair shops. The water is the hard part. Your best bet is to fill a zip lock bag with dry rice and put your ipod inside and leave it for a week and maybe the rice will pull the moisture out. Water is a killer but once it dries out, you might be lucky. In the end it may cost more to repair than its worth.

Damage by water, problem of charging and unlock

Sorry, water ingress is mostly fatal. Even if it works initially it will eventually fail as the water will cause short circuits on the components. However, try this to put off the inevitable. Do not turn it on. Get some silica gel from your chemist. Put this in a plastic bag and put the iPod in with the silica gel. Leave it sealed for at least a day. Remove the iPod and dry the silica gel in the oven and repeat the process several times. Do not heat the iPod. Good luck.
