Possibly you may have some file on the computer that needs deleted. Some of your other problems seem to be part of the normal hi-jacking from going to web sites. Make sure you have a updated Anti Virus, Registry fix, disk cleaner. and necessary software on your computer? You might go through those files that you want to tranfer, and delete out one's you really won't need, and see if that helps. I have a feeling it will if you delete the right one. A real good disk cleaner might do the job.

Enable "File and Print Sharing" on the "old" computer.

Connect the IOMEGA to the "old" computer.
Enable file-sharing on the "root" folder of the IOMEGA.

Connect the "old" computer to one of the LAN ports on a router (wired or wireless).

Connect the "new" computer to another LAN port on the same router.

Make sure that both computers are in the same "workgroup".

From the "new" computer, browse to "show computers in my workgroup".
You should see an icon for the "old" computer.
Double-click that icon to "open" that icon, and you should see all the files on the IOMEGA.

Copy those files to the 'C:' drive on the new computer.

Describe your external hard drive iomega MDHD500 Problem: I've just bought a MAC OSX computer which doesn't recognise my iomega hard drive (used on a PC) is there a way to fix this?

Are there any files on the disk-drive that you want to keep?
If so, connect it to a PC, and copy those files.

If not, connect it to the Mac, and allow the Mac to 'format' the drive, to initialize it for use on the Mac.

I am sure that you have unplugged the external drive and tried it again. Have you tried it on a different system? You can install the drivers to another computer and see if that will resolve the issue. If it does, you will need to uninstall the current drivers on your PC and then reinstall them. Does this Iomega have a bus connection. Not all bus connections load the driver automatically. You may have to go to Iomega website and get the driver. Then you just have to get rid of the one that you have (may be corrupted) and install this one.

Hope this helps you solve your issue.
