There should be a sub woofer pre-out port at the back. connect ur active woofer on that port.

The matching model that I own does not have a pre-out for an rca type connection. I also am having the same issue.

So The question is how do i hook up a sub-woofer with an RCA type connection at the sub-woofer side?

From the manual:When connecting a super woofer svstem such as the Pioneer S-Wl OOO,
connect it to the same speaker terminals (A or B) to which the front
speakers are connected, Connecting the front speakers and super
woofet system to terminals A and B respectively will result in reduced
    volume from the front speakers.

I have a Pioneer VSX 823 - K, and when I hook up my Klipsch HG-12 300 watt subwoofer to it, the receiver is prone to overheating or just shutting off with too much bass. Is there a fix to this?

This is receiver thermal going in protect issue and has no bearing to your sub, The sub has its own power amp and not supplied by the receiver. Thermal module may be bad. See a tech.

Just use one of those jacks. Then turn the frequency select dial all the way up. This will work just as well.

How do i connect a sub wooferto my reciever

I own 2 of these Pioneer VSX-D903S units.

The only way to hook a powered subwoofer up to a VSX-D903S is if your subwoofer is equipped with amplified/speaker level terminals on the back, in addition to the line-level input. If you only have a line-level input, do not attempt to hook it up to this receiver.

If you're lucky, and have speaker-level inputs on your powered subwoofer, you would use the amplified terminals (connect to B-channel on the receiver). DO NOT connect anything to the line-level connection.

Alternatively, you could build two unpowered subwoofers, then set the receiver's Impedance switch to LOW, then connect one enclosure to each of the "B-channel" outputs. Connect your regular left and right speakers to their corresponding "A-channel" outputs. [Impedance range: 4 Ohm minimum, 16 Ohm Maximum]

BillhealyCan I hook any subwoofer to the VSX 455? I tried a Panasonic but it doesn't work

There are two devices involved and you've only defined one of them.

Any >>>standard<<< aftermarket subwoofer might work. Parts of Home Theater in a Box probably won't.

Any >>>standard<<< subwoofer would come with instructions for how to attach it to any of the STANDARD audio amplifiers out there.

I can't locate a manual or good picture of the rear panel to see if it has a subwoofer output.

How to hook it up with sub dvd

Not sure what a "sub dvd' is but here's the manual. The Subwoofer Pre Out would provide a Line Level feed for a powered subwoofer, once it is configured to do so.

Where do my subwoofer speaker wires get hooked up to on the back of the reciver vsx-815 ??

Hi there, the Pioneer VSX-815 amplifier only feeds out a mono LINE LEVEL output with the subwoofer signal. Therefore you would need to connect the SUB PREOUT jack at the rear of the unit to the "line level input" on a self-powered subwoofer. Hope this helps.. Cheers, Yusuf

How do i connect a subwoofer to my vsx-9700s

on the back of the pioneer, you have a subwoofer preamp output jack, probably colored black, as opposed to red or white. stretch a rca cord between there and the red and white (or lfe) input of the sub. youll then have to check the amp setup menu and make sure it has the output activated. good luck

How to connect 901 equalizer to a Pioneer VSX 47TX

I have a VSX-36TX so this is how it's going to work...

You will need a separate stereo amplifier for the 901's to accomodate the need for the Active EQ. There is no way to separate your receiver's front L&R channel preamplifiers from their amplifiers.

I run a Carver AV-406 (5-channel amp) for my 901's in Front, 2 Subwoofers and the Rear Surround channel, with the Active EQ between the receiver and the 901's amp channels. My receiver controls everything and just drives the Center and Surrounds. You would probably just get a nice 2-channel amplier for the 901's. However, the VSX 47TX doesn't provide power for a Subwoofer, should you decide to get one, so you would need another amplifier channel for that, too. Therefore, you might look around for a powerful 3- or 4-channel amplifier so you could drive the Sub, too.

Modest amps would work but at very loud volumes may go into clipping, which is bad for any speaker. I'm using only 100W for mine and it has plenty of steam for the 901's.

For connection I would run a pair of RCA cables from the Front L&R Audio Line OUT to the Active EQ's Line IN; then the EQ's Line OUT to a separate amp's Line IN. Attach the 901's to the new amp, run through the receiver's setup procedures for volume, etc and you're done.

Not what you might want to hear but 901's have special requirements. I've had mine for 25 years and have no regrets.

A separate subwoofer channel on the amp could be used. Just run a single RCA channel from Sub OUT to one available channel IN on the amp and attach the subwoofer to it. Two would work, also. That's what I do. You could use a 1-2 RCA splitter to feed two avaailable channels on a 4-channel amp. The iterations are many. Have fun.
