I have Sony VGN-NR120E. When i turn on my computer, nothing appears on the screen and the power sign is only on (battery, turbo and lan sign are off). Its like frozen, and i dont think the fan is working...

1. Unplug your computer and remove the battery.
2. Press the power button several times.
3. Reattach the battery, plug in the computer, and press the power button.
4. If the problem persists, look closely at the screen. If you can make out faint, dim images, the backlighting components must be replaced or repaired. If not, it is likely another issue with the physical hardware of the machine such as the screen or the motherboard.

HI dmanhd97,

Try this, restart your pc then press f8 continuously, this will take you to safe mode. then after that go to start>run> type in msconfig (windows xp) , and start>search> type in msconfig (windows 7)
this will open up the system configuration under the general tab
select the diagnostic start up then apply>ok>restart

Hope this helps,

Sony vaio vgn nr120e no power

hmm well i could of helped you if that was the problem, but that has me stumped could be anything, i can run through some diagnosis tests to try and narrow down the problem tho, 1. turn the laptop upside down and remove the panel which has the ram cards (ram cards are rectangular chip boards relatively small with 6 or so little black microchips on them in a row or just google it) under it and remove the ram cards then try turning it on. 2.is there any noticeable damage to the laptop such as damge around the battery and charger ports? 3. try turning it on without the battery in at all just the charger. sorry if any of these didnt help

You won't be able to see video if your LCD screen is cracked.

Connect a monitor to the VGA port , the hold the Fn key and hit F7.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
