SOURCE: type of oil
Air compressor pumps can use different grades of oil depending on weather conditions and usage, however do not use engine oil. Some Ingersol Rand pumps use a synthetic oil available through WWGrainger on the web. (generally not model specific) If this pump is lightly used you can use the less expensive compressor oil sold at Lowes lumber made by Campbel Hausfeld. It sells for less than $3.00 a bottle. Generally speaking, under normal weather conditions and light duty use, do not worry about the weight of the oil; just make sure that it stays clean and at the right level. If your compressor is running hot, it may be due to other problems like the check valve, head gaskets leaking between cylinders or chambers or high usage. If, however you just want the best oil for your compressor, use the synthetic. It is usually colored blue or green. This oil is special formulation to prevent breakdown in high heat and will not allow carbon for form on parts or inside of the hoses. enjoy

Your comperssor is oilless type and suffers from short cylinder / piston life. When the compressor no longer reaches cycle pressure the cylinder / piston should be replaced. These parts are available at www.chpower.com I believe that the part number is wl210300aj. Not expensive, enjoy.

i have the same piece of junk, iv rebuilt it 3 times in the past 5 years always a piston rod snapped and then it was running on only one. they are built like ****. anyhow I finely got smart and bought a cast iron pump thats not only quieter but puts out twice the volume of air in half the time. it took some work but it was well worth it costing under 200.00. the rebuild kit from sears will cost over 100 and it wont last. the one from sears is a direct drive pump and you will be told no one makes a direct bolt on but all it takes is cutting the aluminum housing away from the motor and welding a pin or bolt to the end of the shaft and putting a pully on it, you will also have to turn the motor to the side but let me tell you this was the best move i ever made. you can pick I bought my new pump from a place called heavy dudy air in ga. 877-447-2485
