Here's a link to a site with detailed instructions on how to tear down and remove the keyboard on a Gateway MT series laptop. It should definately get you most of the way.
I hope this response helps you out.
I wish you the very best of luck!

1st remove the Battery ..u will find screw below the battery ..unscrew it and then remove the blastic bar above the keyboard which contain the power ,wireless..etc Keys ..afterthat u can remove the key board and replace the new one...
If your keyboard glows in the dark,it never lit up.there are two types of keyboards one glows and one actually lights up with a blue back light as an option on the ix250(the bios has the option built in,if it has the keyboard that lights up or not).
The plastic strip with the power button/glow ring, comes off. I believe there is at least one, and maybe two screws on the bottom that hold it. Take out the screws that are directly bellow the strip, it doesn't matter if you remove all screws in that area just so long as you put them back. After removing the screws, pry up one end of the strip, and lift up the rest, the strip will snap up and off. I've found that it's easier if you get it started from the top of the keyboard, rather than trying to get under the very end next to the other plastic area for the initial pry or lift on the strip.
