Hello,
I wish to have this issue solved too!
It is very useful to have timestamp optional as in most other cameras...

How do I automatically date stamp all my photos?

The camera does not have a date stamp mode. However the date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

How to print date on photo - finepix s5600

Go into the settings of the camera and look for anything called "Date/Time Stamp." Enable this setting and the date will be printed on every picture. Be careful, though. Date/Time Stamps are not easily removed so make sure you want it on whatever you are photographing.

Hope this helps.

My camera is showing the date stamp on, but when I put my sd card in computer, it does not show it...HElP, I need to send date stamped photos tonight!!

Sorry, not nearly enough info. What model camera, what software are you using on the computer (if any) to alter/save photos, what format are you shooting in (RAW, .jpeg, etc.)...

My hunch is that your rear screen is DISPLAYING time/date but that you don't have the option enabled to actually EMBED the stamp on the photos. Check your settings or ideally check the manual if you have it.

Date & Time Stamp

The date is printed on the photos using the "pict bridge" software. The date printing option is set on the computer, not the camera. If the printer has it disabled or it is a printer that doesn't support it, you won't get the date.

Date stamp

To get the date/time to be on your photos while taking the picture so you don't have to use the software later do this:

When in the mode to take pictures, press the round "Function Set" button and change the recording pixels to "Postcard 1600 X 1200". "Postcard" is the only setting that will allow the time/date stamp to be recorded on the picture.

Then press the "Menu" button and scroll down to "Date Stamp". You can select "Date", "Date & Time" or "Off". You can only do this when your pictures are set to the "Postcard" mode.

Canon SD 1000 time and date stamp on downloaded photo

Set the resolution to PostageCard (1600x1200).
Many of these cameras have only ONE RESOLUTION setting which allows you to have a date/ date and time stamp on the file, which will print on the viewed or printed photo.

How to do it:
Turn the camera on M mode.
Use the func. set.
go down the menu to the resolution settings. (on the bottom of menu).
Pick only the postagecard (1600x1200) setting.

I also was like you, and had an awful time with a camera I was fixing. I then looked it up on the Net and found an online user manual for the Canon SD 500, which should be basically the same.
