Im not really sure... but i think you have to line up three stars and enter them into the computer starting with Polaris (North Star). the other stars i would use for reference would be Arcturus and Spica. Use the handle of the big Dipper and follow the "(ARC)" that the handle makes and it will lead you to ("ARC"turus) and then "speed off" into that same direction and it will lead you "to Spica".

Stars are so far away that you cannot see a disk. They look just like they do without a telescope.

Try to find the Orion Nebula and Saturn in the night sky. Also look at the moon.

How far should your eye be away from the eye piece,We are having trouble seeing anything and we are new to a telescope

It depend on the eyepiece anywhere from 10-20mm away.

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. DO NOT use the 2x barlow -- practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

How far does it see in the sky

Did you "see" the sun today? Then you looked across 93 million miles without a telescope.

From a dark sky viewing site you can also see the Andromeda Galaxy at 2.5 million light years away--- without a telescope!

How does a telescope used, and can we see a star through it even if the star is really really far?

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. Go outside during the day and practice focusing on a distant object.

Stars ALWAYS look like -------------- stars no matter what telescope you use. They are all too far away to see as a "disk" , always just points of light.

The closest star is Proxima Centauri at 4.2 light years away.

That is about 25 TRILLION miles!

I don't know how to use it

If you purchase this yourself, you should look in the manual for operating instructions. You look at objects far away. Example: distant stars at night. If you work well with it you might be able to see far into the interstellar space, or seeing the space-shuttle after it's gone way up beyond the naked eye.

Motor unit fault DS 2000

Continual motor faults simple mean something is broken inside the telescope--- motors, or gears--- something is preventing the motor from turning the telescope.

Time to either take it back and get a replacement... or send it in for repairs.

150-1400 Newtonian telescope Set the sight scope eye piece on the moon and looked in the pl 25mm lens in the focusing tube and no image? Can anyone help Philip moondogs2@myway.com

You must align the finder scope with the main telescope tube--

During the daytime look at something far away in the main scope-- without moving the scope center the cross hairs on the finder scope.

Good luck

What eyepiece size are you using and what planet are you targeting? Jupiter is usually a good starter after you've practiced on the moon.
