Question about Televison & Video
Phillips television. the television has a 2cm silver line going right across the television. no picture but full sound. does anyone know what the problem is and is it worth fixing?
If you are referring to a single bright line left to right, then I would suspect that your TV have a vertical output failure. Depending on the particular model, this could be a single IC or a transistor pair. This is relatively an easy job and component replacement should be readily available. Since the unit will be opened for confirmatory diagnosis and eventually parts replacement, may I also suggest that you ask the service personnel who's going to do the job to likewise replace the vertical capacitor. They have a tendency to dry out after some time. It is the biggest of the lot (of capacitors in the vertical section). Parts cost would also be relatively low.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
