You have a ground issues somewhere of where a wire may have rubbed the frame and is shorting out, wrong solenoid (frame ground verse wire ground) or a starter issue.

Take the starter off and test it with a good battery and jumpers to make sure its working correctly. Second...start tracing your wires back to the solenoid and then to the switch looking for bare or loose wiress.

The electric start won't work. Battery was replaced last season and charged but still won't start electrically. Using pull rope- starts on 1st/2nd pull. No cuts found in wiring.

Are your battery cables all tight and clean on both ends?
does it turn over at all if not your starter may need repairing. also make sure your new battery is charged up. New batteries can go bad. If left out in the cold and not charged up they will freeze and bust open and let the acid out.

Just got a 99 toyota 4runner at a steal of a price. I can't get the truck to crank over, unless I am using a starter jumper, meaning I jump it from the battery with a remote start switch. New to this...

it may be that the clutch start switch positive wire is shorted out to a ground, try to bypass the switch and see if the fuse stops blowing, if it does get an ohm meter and check each wire to ground, only the white black wire is grounded.

Ground wire keeps burning out

Sounds like the ground wire is not grounding properly. Maybe not tight enough or the thing it is grounded to is not properly grounding to the engine. Try grounding to a different spot on the engine where there will be a good ground and see what happens. Possible the starter is pulling too much power and needs replacing. I had that happen some time ago.

Have a john deere sabre turn key won't start thought battery was dead charged battery still won't start jump start with car battery it will start then . try to engage reverse with blades running it...

Some mowers have a mowing reverse safety switch. That safety will kill the mower if you try to reverse with the deck engaged. Some mowers even have an override button that has to be held while backing up. As for the battery thing, no matter how much you charge a bad battery you will not get it to start a mower if it has a bad cell or two. I would use a multimeter to check battery voltage, but the end result would still be the same, replace the battery.

I hope this gets you going again.

My 1998 grand voyager wont start the fuse keep blowing when you try to start the van. what could be the problem?

a fuse does what ? it protects circuit from over heating and burning all the wire. and a wire from the postive side of the batt to the negtive side will heat up depending on how big around the wire is.
so the switch that you put the key in to start the engine, also gives power to lights, radio, etc.
now does the fuse blow when the switch is turned to on, but not to start ??? or only when turned all the way to start ??? if you know that it blows at the 1st point then one of the wires to the other circuits is grounded when switch is turned. if it blows only at start point then a wire in the start circuit is grounded.

Make sure the harness ground is grounded to the engine,if it is,the configuration will be different in the key switch, and you will have to use your old switch. But switching the switches can cause a melt down so be care full when plugging the other switch in,and trying it out.

get a wire that goes to the positive terminal on the battery and touch it to the bolt on the starter and see if it works then. if not, the starter could be bad, screw the plastic gear back up til it engages in the flywheel on the engine and hand turn the lawnmower with the starter gear engages to loosen it up then try

Bolen 17HP riding mower tries to start with key in off position

It sounds like you have an ign. wire grounded or your ign switch has a short in it. Also remove the cover on your starter drive to be sure it has released.

My lawnmower won't start. WHen I turn the key it

Check battery cable for correct hook up. Red positive to starter and black to ground. If battery connected backward starter rotates in opposite direction and can burn up starter. If correct battery hook up check plastice gear on starter for wear.
