You have a failed membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

On this model, we could do that job for you for $79.90, but that may not be economical when compared to a replacement unit.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Why does my brand new microwave produce lots of internal moisture when heating ready meals?

The new oven is providing more heat to your food, causing more water to boil out of it by the time it is done. It may be OK to shorten your cooking times in response to the higher power efficiency if it bothers you. Then again, maybe you bought a microwave steam oven. They're cool.

How to set temperature in Samsung microwave. 160 c means ? watts.

They're totally non-interchangeable as they're two totally different ways of cooking.

There is no correlation at all between a temperature setting used by electric and fan ovens and the microwave power level, there's not even a rule of thumb. For microwave cooking, the fat, sugar and water content of any given food item as well as the mass and shape are what determine cooking times and microwave power levels, and not all foods can be safely microwaved as high fat/sugar content foods may catch fire.

Our Samsung MW1030WA Serial # 7MAW804207L has started changing the dial readout. Not even being used the dial would change from the time setting to a series of 7 and beeps. 1st one 7 appears then a 2nd...

The "7" pad on your membrane keypad is shorted.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

The keypad is part number DE34-00045H and you can order it here.

Otherwise, we do that for $39.95 plus parts. Feel free to contact us if you need more information or tips.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

More info on such problems:

Is it possible that some spray cleaner accidentally got into the controls?

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

Always spray non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth (not a paper towel which can scratch) and gently wipe the keypad.

Always use the vent fan when cooking on the stove top to keep steam and grease out of the controls.

I always recommend that users spray the cleaner on a soft cloth (not on the keypad itself) then wipe the control panel off.

I recommend a soft cloth since paper towels can scratch the plastic.

Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.

Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.
