Toshiba 1800 - PS183A drivers for XP needed

I'm looking for XP drivers for a Toshiba 1800 System Unit, Model PS183A-003LV, probably purchased around 10 years ago or a bit less (?). Can't seem to find any help through Toshiba.

I got a new Toshiba L455-S5009 with Windows 7 (64 bit) pre-installed. I want to install Windows Xp. Everytime I run Windows xp installation cd it gives blue screen of death and stops the installation....

I would strongly recommend against downgrading to Windows XP. The hardware in your machine is designed to run and perform at it's best on the newer operating systems Vista/7. You may run into several issues trying to actually locate drivers for your machine.

I have looked on the Toshiba's support site for your particular model and some of the critical drivers are not listed for Windows Xp (sound, video,LAN,wireless)

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2601123&rpn=PSLY0U&modelFilter=L455-S5009&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

Not to mention the fact that your system is running a 64 bit processor and you are going to be downgrading to a 32bit operating system and not utilizing your processor's potential.

To answer your question though it is most likely because your system needs a driver for the hard drive controller that is not included on the Windows XP installation media. I did search on the for a controller driver but was not able to find one. Can't say with 100% certainty that is why you are receiving the BSOD but most likely the case

I am looking to reformat the hard drive (ie restore to factory settings) of a toshiba equium a60 laptop. However, I have no manufacturer disks so wondering if it is possible?

I've had a look at the the Toshiba website:-

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=Toshiba+Equium+7100S+&x=9&y=8

It gives the impression that this is quite an old system. That being the case, re-installing windows requires re-formatting the HDD.

But keep the URL above handy, it may help with drivers you may need after the re-installationt.

I am newly instal xp operating system in my pc

It looks as though that model of Compaq has the Realtek High Def audio chipset - try http://tinyurl.com/6f793u for a download from the realtek site - it appears as if that desktop originally had Vista installed on it from Compaq, so the Compaq driver is probably too new for the older XP operating system. Hope this helps!!!

I dont have recovery CD for my laptop

Being that you don't have the recovery cd, I would probably do the following (in this order):

1. Do a System Recovery (go to Start > Help and Support > type in System Recovery in the search field > look for Run System Recovery Wizard)

2. If the above didn't fix my problem, then I would try to determine if it was a hardware issue (bad RAM, fan, processor, etc) or if it was definitely a software issue (operating system is kaput, virus, etc...)

3. Contact Toshiba and find out how much it would cost to get another Recovery CD.

4. If it costed more than $100 dollars (and you're a little computer inclined) then I would buy myself a fresh Windows XP Home Edition OEM version (runs about $90 if not less)

BUT... before sticking in that cd, make sure that you download the device drivers or back up your device drivers for your system (network driver, graphics drivers, chipset drivers).. once you've backed up those things onto a cd or disk, then I would go ahead and put in a fresh copy of Windows XP and reformat the computer.

Once thats done, you can put in that back cd you made and have the computer find the drivers on your disc when it says "New Hardware Found..." and just make sure you have it search your disc drive.

IF it doesn't cost much to get a Recover CD from Toshiba, then by all means, get it and put that bad boy in. Of course, when formatting anything, back up your files that you need (address book, documents, etc) and then reformat with the CD.

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Vista installed. It was removed and replaced with xp by a technician. Apparentlt this also removed the toshiba Fn toolbar. Is it possible to downloan and...

Alright so what you need is the Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP). I went to the Toshiba website and found all the drivers for your laptop. I didn't find the TVAP for your model and I don't believe that one exists for xp on your model as it is with most other newer Toshibas on the market. What you can try doing is downloading the hotkey utilities from the link below. Before doing so make sure that you have uninstalled the TVAP thats already on your computer, if there is one. If this doesn't work than you'll need the toshiba common module driver also. Heres the link.

The toshiba website has the drivers you need:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp?moid=893050&rpn=PTA30U&ct=DL&BV_SessionID=@@@@0477345540.1206796869@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadedjkjmfejcgfkceghdgngdgnj.0

on that page, the "toshiba hardware setup utility for XP" is probably what you're looking for.
