More than likely it is the thermostat. Thermostat tells the compressor that the room is cool enough and to shut down. If it is faulty, it is telling the compressor that the desired temp has been reached and stop pumping use fan instead.

Yes it could be the capacitor. Check it with a multimeter. If the capacitor looks swollen then its probably bad. Let me know if you need more assistance.

What does the word "HERM" mean on a compacitor from a maytag 6000 btu

The word herm means hermetically sealed compressor. That wire goes to the start terminal on the compressor.

Duotherm a/c 59516.331 p/n 70130997 need to know what is attached to the top of compacitor...need to know the mfd for run compacitor as well as start compacitor. think run compacitor is=35.5 @ 370..

The wires attached to any component is shown on the wiring diagram. Use the same values that's printed on the capacitors, when replacing them. Call the manufacturer for any missing technical information.

The Ice Machine is pulling 40 - 50+ Amps on compressor startup, after 5 - 10 secs it trips the breaker. WHat could this be and is it easily corrected.

sounds like you need to change compacitor on compressor or your compressor needs replaced i would change compacitor first and if not helping then change compressor even if you buy compacitor and it doesnt help you still need to have a new one for the new compressor

Compressor will not start, everything else seems to be ok but no compressor. this is a new unit, has never started the compressor.

Check the capacitor for the compressor. Also use a voltmeter and make sure power is getting to the compressor. Let me know what you find.

Should the wires coming from the run compacitor have power

The run capacitor is not a mechanical device, so the clicking that you are hearing is not actually coming from the capacitor. If you the wires going to the capacitor, (isolate the capacitor), you can check the microfarad rating of the capacitor to ensure it is still good using a multimeter. Hope this helps.

I have no power going to my compressor. I ohm out my two thermostats and they are completing there circuits. what do I check next?

Does your compressor have a compacitor there should be leads on top of compressor you need to ohms that also if it is hermetic the compacitor leads should be on top of compressor there should be a start and run line. Check both to the common lead marked C. Check compressor to see if it is hot at touch it could be compressor overheated let it cool over night it may start back up.

If neither of these are the case check your transformer or contacts if it is 110 contact just check for continuity it should be more than .4 ohms or check load line or low voltage those should read on a contact around 8-20 ohms if not the transformer check leads there it should have continuity.

If you don't get a reading on any one of those it could be open or grounded then you need to replace those items.
make sure they are disconnected before checking
good luck

Compressor on sxd20tw wont shut off. just cleaned

How to check everything
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Compressor tries to kick in but then stops.

it is a hard start compacitor, the unit is not supposed to have three compacitors.
