Why my s430 will run and idle but dies as soon as squeeze the trigger even if I do it slow? The primmer bulb was bad so I changed that but still does the same thing?

Carb is in need or a cleaning and rebuild. I would suspect the diaphragm is bad. You can get a rebuild kit with all the gaskets for most carbs for around $10. There are some that gaskets are not available for and you would need to replace the entire carb. Carbs run from $15 to $30.

Replace it. They can be rebuilt. Find the rebuild kit first. Buy the basic tools to do it. Then you can rebuild any of they. I buy kits for GM, Ford, Dodge, and some imports for around $30. Way better than $150+ for the rebuilt rack and pinions.

I'd put my money on it being the actual carb body. The carb body its self contains a couple of small valves which can get blocked or damaged and are practically impossible to replace. Look for a second hand OEM carb and if needed use your rebuild kit on it. That would be the cheapest route

New battery, new starter & still problems starting

Hello! How long have you owned it? Question is directed at the carb and fuel pump...I would suggest rebuilding the carb with kit and replacing the fuel pump at the same time...see photos below...There are a couple of different fuel filters; one for a non- fuel pump (gravity feed) and one with a fuel pump...Your engine requires the fuel pump filter...dirt and varnish build up in the carb and pump especially if the wrong filter is installed...Buy a gallon of carb cleaner with the tray inside...

Have a bad carburetor, is it cheaper to buy used or rebuild? Is it easy to replace myself? It's a 350v8 if that helps.

I only keep my original carb & rebuild myself

I only have one 27 year old vehicle left with a carb

Rebuilding a carb isn't easy, unless you can remember
where everything goes

I wouldn't pay the large amount for a carb from the parts
store that may not work correctly

You have no idea where the core came from or what
it was originally on.

They don't go bad
The float sometimes does & sinks down or the needle
& seat get old & worn

I would rebuild it

I never bought a used part in 48 years of auto repair
for anything. Although I think were about at that point
with the availabilty & price of things today.

If you have a car over 10 years old your pretty
much out of business ,as far as a dealer having parts

before you rebuild the pump, I would check the lines to see if fuel is flowing through them, as my Mtd the lines where blocked and I had to buy a rebuilt kit for the carburetor. You can check on eBay or order one off the Hasqvarna site Hope this helps Tim
