I recommend cleaning the filter with gasoline if its foam or replacing it if its paper. If this doesn't fix the problem you should remove the carburetor (in between the air filter box and the engine) and cleaning it thoroughly with carb cleaner from your local parts store.

Will run with full choke on but once i turn choke off it dies

The carb jets are clogged, it will have to be removed and soaked in carb cleaner. Sometimes that will not work either, and the carb will have to be replaced. Reason is, some of the carb passages are as fine as a human hair, so it's hard to get gunk and bad/dried gas deposits out.

You could try running something called Sea Foam (mixed in the gas)from Walmart through the tiller for a while, that MAY help somewhat.

Engine dies out

Could be any of several problems. Since you indicate you just bought it, I'd suggest you return it. Troy-Bilt is pretty good at making customers happy and should repair or replace it right away.

Starting & getting the triller to run

If you leave the choke on 1 (wide open to air) does it engage? If you are careful, you can remove the Air Filter and try pulling it over. This will provide adequate Air to the Gas mix and allow the engine to run. ** MAKE SURE there is NO dirt near the filter housing or you will **** dirt into the carb. If this works, you have a speck of dirt in the carb....... THIS IS ONLY TO TEST, do not use this in the garden or you will **** in dirt.

Tiller won't stay running

If you choke or prime the engine, it starts up for a second or two and dies, the carburetor need to be cleaned/repaired.

Cannot keep tiller running

Could a gas/oil mix been used by mistake. When you cleaned carb did you also clean dusty air filter?? Try leaveing off filter first and run. Are you sure you are in "choke position" when engines seems to be running ok,be sure to double check yourself here. If engine runs ecelleant in "choke" sounds like your in "Run" position and positioning is problem not performance.

Please rate. Thanks jj505
