Question about Kenmore 54599 / 54592 / 54594 / 54596 Side by Side Refrigerator
Some heat in that part is normal but there are 2 things that can cause that section to become very hot.
The condenser fan may not be operating and is located right beside the compressor and I believe yours will be in the back behind the lower access panel. If the compressor is operating the fan should be as well. If the fan is not operating you might try to give it a spin with a screwdriver to see if it appears weak. If it does not try to operate then you are going to have to test it for power.
The second thing is the coils that fan pulls air through has become blocked or dirty.
I hope this helps.
