Question about Garden
Steering problems have developed on our 2005 Cub Cadet LT 1042. You can feel something ''slipping'' when you turn the steering wheel in either direction. It started about 2 weeks ago, but got much worse today while mowing the yard. Won't steer to the right at all now; will steer a little to left. Looked in the trouble shooting section of the manual, but didn't see anything applicable, but maybe we missed it. Does anyone have any ideas? We can fix the basics, but don't have the time, equipment, or desire to go beyond that! Thanks for your help.
Your looking at a new steering gears at the bottom of the shaft. You can fix it if you have the time. You need to hoist the front end into the air....drop the deck, remove the nut on the steering wheel and everything pulls out the bottom of the machine.
If your not handy....send it to a good repair shop. www.nnyparts.com
