Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: display screen says: door/covers open close covers of relay unit??

I believe the "relay Unit" on that machine is the section that transports copies to either the finisher (if installed) or the exit tray on the LEFT side of that machine. Sometimes neither of these units are present, but the relay unit may still be installed.
There are 2 flip up covers on that section (left and right), and you will probably see that one of them (usually the left one) has come unclipped, or perhaps the plastic clip that holds it closed is broken. If you flip up this unit. You will see a black button at the back end that is engaged when ther unit is closed. If you simply pree this button with your finger, hopefully the message will go away - this may at least help you troubleshoot what is causing the "cover open" message). Even if the clip is broken, it is often just a matter of seating the unit correctly so that the switch is engaged when the unit is closed. There is also the same switch on the right cover that could be causing the problem, but this cover doesn't sem to get damged as often.
I hope this helps. Please let me know.

Close the scanner unit warning

Found the problem!
1. Open unit as if replacing ink.
2. Remove panel displaying
SERIAL No. XXXXXXXXXX INK INFO STICKER
3. Find "button sensor" in top left corner. When pressed down the unit registers the scanner unit as closed.

There must have been a piece that broke off. That piece used to press the "button sensor" down when lid was closed.

Hope this helped some other our there!

How to unlock the scaner

I am posting this solution for Dell printers but i guess it will work well on samsung too...
  • Lift the scanner unit on the front of the printer until you hear the scanner's support click and lock. Use both hands to lift the scanner unit.
  • Locate the scanner's lock switch on the left side of the raised scanner beside the scanner support and pull the lock toward you.
  • Lift the scanner unit. Push and hold the scanner support back to release the scanner unit from its raised position.
  • Lower the scanner unit slowly until it is completely closed.

Sharp AL 1631 is flashing 1 L. What does that

Hi:

This might refer to your scanner assy being locked. The scanner assy is the unit under the glass that scans your document prior to copying it. Look inside the cavity where you pick up your completed copies. Look at the upper left corner and see if there is a knob there. If there is, make sure it is in the completely unlocked position.

Flash pops up, but flash closed warning stays

My E5700 did this a couple of times. The fix for my flash was that the unit wasn't actually popping all the way open. I closed it, then manually poppped open the flash and gave it a gentle upward tug. The flash seemed to lock into position -- and has worked fine since. I hope your fix is as simple as with my E5700.

I hope this helps!

CharlieJ

Transparency adaptor won't close

Remove the transparency adaptor from the scanner bed (unscrew the two smaller screws, then slide back and off) and then remove the glass (and plastic frame) of the transparency adapter (there are six screws).

c3c13ab.jpg

By the hinge there is a small white plastic switch. Usually the transparency adaptor hits this when it's closed, letting your computer know that it is ready to scan. What I did, as bcvideo did, was take duct tape and firmly taped the switch to the side of the transparency adaptor, using several small strips of tape.

The scanner works well now. You may need/want to put something on top of the scanner if it does not fully close.
