There is a program that came with the installation Cd called Philips Device Manager. You can download it from www.usasupport.philips.com if you lost the CD. Use the Philips Device Manager to repair the player. If the device manager will not repair the player, then try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

I worked on this thing (sa6045) for three hours................no luck. Finally got a fix.....Go to programs add/remove menu under control panel and delete Philips device manager. Then go to Philips site and download new driver:http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&mid=Link_Software&cat=MP3_PLAYERS_CA&sct=SU00304_SU&grp=PORTABLE_ENTERTAINMENT_GR&session=20080506223817_126.96.36.199&ctn=SA6045/37&dct=PAL&did=AEN&file=/files/s/sa6045_37/sa6045_37_dmr_aen.htm
Install your new driver and be SURE windows media player is not running or trying to sync.If it is running in background philips device manager will not work.Once new driver is installed you can pull up the repair panel and do a hard reset thru software on your Sa6045.

Here's what's going on - Philips issued a firmware upgrade for this model to correct the freezing issue. You can't use the version of the Philips Device Manager that came on the installation CD. You have to go to www.philips.com/support, enter your country, enter your model #, click on SA 6045/37 without the B, and click on the Software & Drivers link. Within the software & drivers link, you must download the link underneath "Device/Firmware Manager" - this will give you the latest version of the Device Manager. Using the new Device Manager, connect your mp3 player to the computer and click on the "Update" button within the Philips Device Manager. This will upgrade your player's firmware, and fix the freezing issue.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
