Question about Canon PIXMA MP610 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have a Canon Pixma MP610. Each time I scan certain 8x10 color images I don't get the whole image. Sometimes there is one fragmented piece, other times I get several fragments of varying magnifications. I will try scanning other images with success, but when I go back to a problem image I get the same fragmented result. What to do? doug.

I think this is because you have a lot of white space and canon scanners try to grab only what they think is the image you are trying to scan (rather than the whole plate). When you scan I think you can select the area you want to scan rather than just let it do it for you. It's a while since I did this so cannot be more specific.

Hi, I scan documents (recto and recto-verso) using the InformatikScan software and the scanner Canon DR-9080C. When I scan for ex. 30 pages, after 10 pages the scanning process slows down in...

The scanner creates a Raster Image and if it is grey or color, the size is big. After a few images are scanned, the 'buffer' inside the scanner is full. It may take more time to process the scanned image by the scanner if it is 24 bit color. The image is sent to the computer Harddisk and if the disk is full or if it had not been defragged for a long time, the sectors may not be contiguous for speedy writing, This will slow up the scanning. Ensure the disk has large space. 'Scan ahead' slows down scanning speed. (Without scan ahead, the next page is fed only after processing, whereas when selected, just after the previous page is scanned, the scanner start the next one)

My scanner on my printer isn't scanning the whole page, it separates it into different pictures so I end up with 7 images of different parts of the page when what i want is it to scan the whole picture as...

Your printer software is doing image detection.
You need to adjust setting on scan so it scans page and image detection is off.

Canon MP610 Printer

You cannot switch to the larger black cartridge. You are using a CMYK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black) format for printing color images.

The larger cartridge is used for text only. The smaller black cartridge is used for color or graphic images.

If the black cartridge was not present, every time you needed black in an image, it would have to come from the composition of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. This would greatly reduce the life of the color cartridges.

Can I save a scanned image using MP610?

Yes. PIXMA MP610 is a multifunction printer that has printer/copier/scanner capabilities.
Just install the software and drivers supplied with your printer (or download them from CANON ) and connect the printer do the computer.
The printer sofware will guide you through the operation of scanning an image and saving it to a a file in the computer.

Problem using OCR with Canon MP610 all-in-one

I got this message too, before I installed an OCR program. It may be that you need to install one (or specify it, if you have one already). With my MP610, an installation disk was included that contained the OmniPage SE program for OCR. When I installed that on my computer, and told MP Navigator (another Canon-supplied program, that controls scanning) to use it as the "Open With" program for OCR, it worked.

MP610 Scanner Not Working

i was having the same problem as the original poster of this thread, where nothing was happening, and this was what i did:

using a mac, i:

- spotlight searched "image capture" (that's what it's called) and opened up the app
- it somehow "woke up" my printer, aka connected the printer to the app, and it would scan the overview, but not scan the final selection that i made. see comnomad's post if you don't know the difference between overview vs. scan.
- so i restarted my printer
- i then did the overview, selected the parts that i wanted, and scanned it again

tada!
