The power saver feature is enabled in the menu commands, if it has one. You have to select it out in the menu, and then turn it off- it's a software feature, not a manual one. Refer to your manual, and look for "Power Settings", or if you don't have the manual, run it by a camera shop or Best Buy, and they can find the setting. My Sanyo doesn't have this feature- I just checked it, and I couldn't find anything on the net about your Canon.
If you haven't had this problem before, or didn't need to disable it, perhaps it's normal for the camera, or you could be having a battery problem, and it's shutting down to save power.
Make sure the battery and camera battery terminals are clean (use a qtip and alcohol), and make sure it's fully charged.
I'm leaning toword the fact that the power saving is probably normal for 5 or 10 minute intervals of no activity, but less than that might be a different problem.
