Hello,

Follow the below procedure. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION System.

Take care.

I have an other problem that doesn't allow me to complete the process thet it was sugested. Wen I tur on the psp 2001 the optical lence starts moving repetly times and it sound like it's stock and after like five times stop. what would be the problem.

  • Sulaimon Jimoh Olayemi May 30, 2010

    Hello,

It could be that the optical lens is weak/bad, try the below steps:

Put your PSP in Standby Mode. The first thing your going to want
to know is your model number. It can be found on the back panel of the
PSP on the serial number label, and it will begin with CECH. Example -
    Serial: XXXXXXXXXXXX-CECHXXX -

    For models: CECHA01, BO1, E01,
    E01MG, G01, H01, H01MG, K01, LO1, AND P01, it will have a power switch
on the back. Flip it off then back on and you will have a solid red
    indicator light on the front.

    For models: CECH-2001A and 2001B,
press the power button on the front until the indicator light turns
red. If all else fails unplug the power cord and plug it back

Time to enter Safe Mode. Press and hold your finger over the
power button on the front until you hear three beeps and the indicator
light goes back to red. Then release the button. (The second you touch
it you will hear a beep, that's the first beep. Five seconds later a
second beep, another five seconds the third and final beep will sound
then the indicator light will return to red.)

Press and hold your finger over the power button again until you hear a
quick double beep. The release the button. (The second you touch it you
will hear a beep, that's the first beep. Five seconds later a second
beep, another five seconds you will hear the double beep.)

You will then see this screen. "Connect the controller with the USB cable, then press the PS button".

Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the front of your PSP and the
top of your game controller, (between the left and right bumpers). Then
Press the PS button in the center of the controller.

You will then see this screen. -REMINDER: -BY DOING THE FOLLOWING ALL OF YOUR DATA ON YOUR PSP WILL BE
LOST, YOUR ONLINE STATS ARE ON THE NETWORK SO YOU WILL GET THAT STUFF
BACK, INCLUDING GAMES AND ADDONS YOU BOUGHT FROM THE PSN.-

    Select
option number 5. (Restore PSP System). Then select yes to perform step.
You will then see this screen. "The hard disk's file system is corrupt
    and will be restored.

The PSP will then restart. You will see many different languages, all
that is is saying is, "Connect the controller with the USB cable, then
press the PS button". Press the PS button and set your settings when it
finishes it will start up and its fixed!

    Good luck.

PSP wont read games

Did you ever drop it? Usually if a PSP will not read UMD's, either the laser is dirty or it has been moved. If you dropped it, the laser has probably been moved. You'd have to take the whole entire thing apart to move the laser back, assuming you knew the position it should be in in the first place. Even if you have dropped it, the first thing I would do is to pick up a UMD drive cleaning kit for around $10 and try that. If that does not work, I would suggest sending it to be repaired. I hope this helps!

My [game] won't show my game list (b4 i update it,it was there)

Okay from reading your post you have or had a CFW (custom Firmware) psp. Sounds like what happen is you updated with Sony's OFW (official) via the wifi. So now your psp will show that folder as it is now not supported.

And the way you are viewing your ISO folder is from your computer.? Your best bet is whoever fixed (hint hint) your psp before should look at it again and more than likely put it back to the way it was before you updated. the tools you would need if you want to try to do this yourself:

A CFW psp (to create files and battery needed to "fix")
A memory stick (at least 512mb)
A battery (to put into service mode)

I will not post where this info is you have to find it yourself as to I do not want to break any rules here. But I will tell you what it's called.

Just a few words you can look up.
"Despertar del Cementerio v8" (A program needed to "fix" your psp)
"Pandora battery" (service mode)
"Magic Stick" (aka jig stick)

You can google it. You will find what you need to know.

PSP problem

If you can't get it read any UMD, it sounds like a laser reader issue. Have you dropped it recently??
