Click Start
Click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse button on My Computer.
Click Manage.
Click Storage

The "Disk Administrator" will start, and your disk-drive may show up as being "unformatted".
Use this utility to create a partition, and to format the partition.
Then, the "empty" partition will show-up in My Computer.

The blue screen appers and then nothing but the splash screen loads

This means your never getting to the Operating system. Can you do any DOS hard drive diagnostics? I know a lot of my question depends on what kind of computer stuff you have from the past but many troubleshooting methods still attempt to see if hardware is working using Disk Operating System tools such as chkdsk and so.
If the DOS operating can not access the hard drive- it may not be spinning up or the boot sector may have been damaged by a trojan horse or virus. I have repaired the boot sector with a dos command before. There are many other issues that can also cause this it is not just one thing. It can be badly seated memory chips, capacitors on the motherboard that have puffed or leaked. I have even had a processor overheat due to fuzz and grease as it was used in the kitchen in the processor heat sink- cleaning is all it needed. If you can not get past the CMOS screen then that would point to a hardware problem. Just some thoughts- it probably needs to be seen by a good Computer Technician.

Windows XP RAM 1.9Gb but BearPaw 2448TA Pro nit started-error: Insufficient Memory

Check if your system matches the requirements of the software. I can't seen to find the model you have given but make sure you have enough hard drive space, make sure you don't have loads of applications and services open (Task manager will tell you) & make sure your graphics card has enough memory for the software to run.

I am have problems booting hdd. I can get into bios only when I have switched the jumper. hdd's are running and ae seen in the bios. why can I not get the hdd's to boot up?

It sounds like you have lost the boot sector on the hard drive.
Try loading your opperating system from your system CD. If it loads OK then run your system CD and choose "Repair System" when prompted.
Hope that helps.

Everything comes on but wont start wont even turn over ever since my house was struck by lighting

seen the film, war of the worlds, when all the cars went dead, well so has yours, in the same way,its called Electro Magnetic Pulse.and it kills all your relays.and computer engine management systems.this is not an easy job as you will have to connect to a diagnostic machine while you are searching for faults, unless you are a dab hand at car electrics, get it done by qualified vehicle technician.
each system has a potential fault, and you have loads.

Sony VAIO PCG-8X2L will not boot. it loads the VAIO logo and sticks right there. no bios no post.

You have a currupt bios firmware. You need to pull out your battery, and disconnect the Cmos battery. Next leave it for at least 24 hr. to make certain you clear Cmos. Now get the latest bios update and have it ready to install. Make certain your a/c power supply is attached during this process. Put in a bootable cd with the firmware on it and see if it loads the new Bios firmware. You can then try to boot the Laptop or PC. I have had good luck doing it this way on most laptop's. Good Luck Phil
I have seen some cases where it is a motherboard problem, but not very often. I have also seen where it is caused by defective memory. You may want to test your memory in another laptop or borrow a chip to see what happens.

P.S. Here is the link to your bios firmware.

Annoying buzz coming out

i have a similar problem, and i've seen loads of stories about the same problem from these speakers, it's a shame because otherwise these speakers are pretty good :(

The speakers seem to pick up interference, especially when the volume is low, they also sometimes give out periodic buzzes, but this could be individual faults with equipment.

Dell B120-loads but no log on page seen

I have the same problem with my Inspiron 8200 - it's the video driver. The system will load but then no log on screen. The solution until you can get an updated driver is to do a power-off reset.
