SOURCE: Bissel vacuum cleaner

That is the problem with a bagless, but if you keep the filters clean it won't be quite as dusty.

My Riccar Upright leave lines of debris when I use it. Can you help?

Inspect the filter.Open the secondary filter on the base of the vacuum to ensure that dirt and debris have not collected on the filter, as this will limit motor performance. Remove the filter from the dust compartment and rinse with water to clean. Allow it to dry completely and return to the dust compartment.--------
Also check if dust bag is got over full and that is causing the problem.Open the dust compartment, take the old dust bag out of the bag holder and discard. Open the end of a new dust bag and attach to the dust bag holder. Close the dust compartment and tighten the dust cover. Also check properly that dust compartment is not got loose. Open cleaning attachment and check the hoses and nozzles on the frequently to ensure that they are free of dirt, obstruction or hair. Also inspect the brushes, if there is already dirt got stuck in the brushes and that is causing the problem.Clean the brushed.---------- This will help, to confirm where the problem is and to resolve the dirt /debris issue.----- Thanks.Helpmech.

The dirty finder light is a microphone, located in the elbow (where hose secures to machine). The problem is either the contacts on the microphone need to be cleaned (use wire brush) or the switch is full of dust (remove small circuit board from the front (where the light is), with a razor blade carefully pop the cover off the switch box and remove the dust.

Hi, My Electrolux twin clean vacuum has both red and blue lights flashing and I can not get it to turn on to clean the filters. Any suggestions

Try taking the twin filters outside - also take a dustpan brush and tap the filters gently on the bottom, then brush the dust away as it comes out. This can take quite some time, and you will find that LOTS of compacted dust will come out!

How to open to empty

I had the same problem. It normally opens with a little tug on the door but if you are like me and you let it fill up with a year's worth of pet hair etc., the door will jam. The only option is to give it a firm tug. I would suggest that you make sure that you apply even strength to both sides to prevent breaking your unit.

Next time, I will empty it sooner. I do love these little toys.

My Roomba says to clean the brushes when the brushes are already clean. Is there something to take apart to check? I have already taken the brushes out. I don't know the model number, I think it's the 500...

turn the unit upside down and remove the bottom pan should be 4 or 5 screws depending on the model.

next remove the 4 screws that hold the brush cartridge and pull the whole brush assembly out.

using a can of compressed air clean that whole assembly out there is a motor there so don't spray any cleaner on it. If there is surface grime you can use a clorox wipe or a damp cloth to get it all off.

this process should take about 10 minutes to do it properly use the straw that came with the compressed air to get in between the plastic shell and get all the dust trapped inside there.

make sure there is no dust trapped in the gears that drive the brushes.

put it all together and it should work.

Maybe you should have taken it back to that shop, it appartently isn't fixed. I would have replace that board, don't believe in modifing, you usually end up with other problems, like you have. One thing to check is maybe you have a partial clog in the hose or wands. A clog would cause this shutting off, then restarting after it has cooled down. If this has a hepa filter, and it has a reset for that filter, press it to see if that is the problem. But I know that board would cost you approx. $90 to $100 just for the part.

Shutting off

It has a built-in temperature sensor which prevents it to be damaged from overheating. That's why it shuts down. It just needs to be opened up and cleaned thoroughly. Start with the hose if it has one and let someone who is handy with electric appliances to open it's casing and clean the insides.
