Murray front engine 18hp wont go forward or reverse. Belts all look good, makes a moaning sound when pedal is engaged.

Sounds like your transaxle is bad. Is it a hydro or standard? Hydro maybe low on fluid or if it has a filter...it maybe plugged. We sell new and used tranny's www.nnyparts.com

check pedal connection rod or cable -- check under unit for drive belt problems ---look at axle override lever or rod not engaged --park brake engaged--if all look good possible failure of axle unit

Install new drive belts and mower still wont move forward or reverse.


Belts dont move mower back and forth, there is a bar that engage the hidrolic transfer, perhaps you move it and you have not tracking power, or, there are a series of rods that actuate the hidrolic, coud be that any of those rods came undone, if any of these to scenarios is happening to you, consider have the hidrolics chec out.

Murray no forward drive - reverse ok


check the linkage adjustment on the pedal you might need to check the rod bushings as well

Cadet LT 2042 worked fine changed hydro filter by lifting front with hoist to vertical. Lowered and topped off fluid. Now wont go forward or reverse. Makes no noise when pedal is engaged to move either...


You will have air in the system and will need purged. To do that you jack up the wheels to where they will turn freely then disengage the hydro and at an idle alternate forward and reverse for a for about 4 or 5 minutes. Recheck the fluid level and top off. Now engage the hydro and do the same forward and reverse for 3 or 4 minutes. You should have axle movement at this point. Hope this will help.

you didnt say what model this is, but i assume its hydrostatic because it has a drive shaft. is the hydrostatic unit filled with oil¿ if its ok, check the linkage from the pedal to the rearend (hydrostatic drive) make sure its not broken or loose.. if that l@@ks ok, check both ends of the drive shaft making sure the couplers are not broke and the drive shaft is ok. hope this helps.

My blades wont engage and just hear click sound?


No permanent solution, but you probably can get by once by "riding" the clutch engagement lever - pushing it only part way forward and holding onto it.

The drive pedal is stuck forward and wont budge along with the brake pedal...


Drop mower deck and have a look.
Both rods run to the rear on the right side.
Possibly something interfering.

Drive and blade engagement shutsdown the engine.


Sounds like the seat safety switch.
