Are you looking at the latest system's?
Are they getting a system each or betwen them?
If so it is between the Sony PS4 or Microsoft Xbox One.
The best thing is to look into the games that are available (and forthcoming) for each system that your son & daughter would like.
Also both systems will have game 'exclusives' that are only available on each format.
Although I think the games that appeal to your 7 year old daughter will be limited on both systems.
With two discs in the system, it is more than likely that the discs are stuck. This would prevent the discs from spinning and it is possible that the discs are wedged. If you are handy, you could try to take the case off and remove the discs manually, otherwise I would advise taking it to a repiar shop.
The pro and premium motherboards take the 20 and 60gig HDD they can not handle a 120gig. Have him try to play a game with out any hard drive attached and see if it works. If it works have him put on his original drive with the console on then turn it off. Unplug the power cord and then turn it back on. Good luck,
Try playing a Demo game, if you dont have any download it from playstation network. The point is just to force the sytem to play games and if you notice, movies and games are listed under a different folder in the icon's list, so playing a demo game will force the system to play the game and you should be able to play your games fine after that,. Thing is that a game's info might've got stuck in freeze mode when the system was shut off unproperly while a game disk was still inside, that's all. Good luck, dont wanna see any PS3 comrades suffering the unspeakable horridness of not been able to play games. Be strong my friend.
