Make sure wireless switch on laptop is on. since you are using XP, type services.msc on the run box, on the services local page go to wireless zero configuration, check if it has started automatically. then go to your wireless area connection, r. click then view available wireless networks. you shall see your 2wire network as 2wirexxx, where xxx stands for the last 3 nos. of your modem's serial no. connect to that network, it will ask you to enter the wireless key or passphrase. now type in the default wep key, that is the 10-digit nos. at the bottom of your 2wire modem right below the sn 7 it is enclosed in brackets. if you still has limited or no connectivity, check the modem if it is set to use default wep-open encryption. it is done by going to homeportal/management, type your system password, it will lead you to the management & diagnostic console page (mdc), click on wireless under local network. pls check if wep encryption is set to open and it is selected to use default encryption. you can also change the wireless channels & power settings, then click on submit. now try to connect.
Note: you can do the mdc on the desktop.

after doing these steps restart your laptop

if you still have limited or no connectivity, there could be another software program in your pc or laptop that disables the wep encryption. you can turn off the wep encryption by unchecking the box on enable wireless encryption. by the way, this could be a bit dangerous since it will allow others to access your wireless connection without having to type the security key or passphrase. :)

Can somebody help me with my problem on my router. I'm connected with the router but its only limited only no internet. I also try to connect it with LAN cable, i also got limited connection. what...

Hi!

Because you can connect to the router by wifi and by cable it looks that the problem is NOT in the LAN or wifi part of the router settings.
The problem is located in the WAN part, that means the connection to your internet provider. The WAN settings must be made according to what your provider demands.
The most common settings are dynamic PPPoE connection type and of course user and password, but that can be different for your particular provider.

For example, if you have a cable modem, the WAN setting is usualy dynamic IP.

If it isn't enough for you to get the router connected to the internet, please post again with more details about your internet connection type and your provider.

Best regards,

Bogdan

I hooked up everything right modem to router, router to computer. but i still cant get internet to my computer. if i hook my modem directly to the compiter it works fine but not through the router

Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) limit you to *ONE* unique computer connected through the cable-modem (or DSL-modem).
Turn the cable-modem off.
Turn the router off.
Connect the cable-modem to the router, via an Ethernet cable to the 'WAN' port on the router.
Turn the cable-modem on.
Turn the router on.
Connect, via an Ethernet cable, from one of the 'LAN' ports on the router to your computer.
Restart your computer.
You should be OK.
If not, telephone your ISP, and get them to trouble-shoot from "their" end towards your end.

Forgot password to wireless connection - Vista on Dell laptop

Normally the default password of the connection is printed on the label of the device. You can try it, if it doesn't work, contact your internet service provider.

Hey my wife wants to know what kind of wireless usb can it be plugs into is it a G or N can u let me know please thank u

Your Router / Gateway is an 802.11g device, capable of 54mbps on the wireless connection. The USB connection, is limited by the port on the computer that it is plugged into (USB1.0 is 1mb, USB1.1 is 10Mb, USB2.0 is 450mb). If your data service is limited to 10mb, then that will be as fast as the ports will be able to get data. It would be a limitation of your data connection, not the hardware.

How to connect to XboxLive via 1800HG 2WIRE+Linksys adaptor?

The easiest way to connect to Xbox Live without using your pc is to buy a
wireless network adapter for your Xbox.

You would then go into the system settings on the Xbox and configure the settings for your wireless network.

Xbox 360 - direct to internet - No PC.

Wireless driver can not read my wireless router

If you're having trouble with a router, it most likely has nothing to do with your laptop at all. If there is a problem with your laptop's wireless adapter, you may be able to find updated wireless drivers through the laptop manufacturer.

Please keep in mind that a wireless router and wireless adapter are completely different. The router is external and relays the signal from your modem (the internet) to your connected PCs. The adapter is in your laptop and sends/receives information from wireless routers such as yours.

Unable to actually connect to the internet?

Have you tried restarting your router? If not, try unplugging the ac power from the router, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. That will usually take care of this problem. If that doesn't work, you can try going into "manage your wireless connections", delete your wireless network from the list, then reconnect to your network.

Can a 1800HG gateway in my garage/workshop link *wirelessly* to my 2wire 2700 HG-B wifi AP internet in the house?

try going onto http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J30&THISPAGE=J29&NEXTPAGE=J30 on the computer connected to the 1800hg and set the router onto bridge mode (deselect enable routing). You might be able to set the two routers to connect then from here: http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J09&THISPAGE=J30&NEXTPAGE=J09 or somewhere else in the MDC, not sure if it will work as I haven't tried it, but I hope it helps.

2wire 1800hg router

You may have to restart your router in the settings menu, as i doubt if the firewall is blocking ebay or yahoo. Make sure non of your firewall, or internet security programmes are blocking these on each pc. and check for spyware and trojans as i have only ever known these to interfere with EBay.
