First is the rear free wheel lever in the right position? Its located in the back of the mower between the wheels. It usually pulls out to disengage transmission to be able to push it. the belt on? There is a drive belt that loops back over the transmission pulley to make it drive.

If not those two...your looking at a new, used or rebuild transaxle.

I don't know Thomas, have you looked at an exploded parts view to see if it shows something. Go to sears parts or some other site and get a picture to download and check out your machine.

PTO stands for Power Take Off. Sounds like a couple of things need work, or replacement. Would look at any electrical connections or sensors that are attached to the control for "neutral" sensing - usually that is a safety feature that prevents you from starting while in gear. Also would look at the control itself for proper operation or worn components.

I have a craftsman lt 1000 riding lawn mower and it runs, but it won't go into gear it goes into gear, but clutch won' engage the gear.

Look under the mower to see if the drive belt has come off or broke. It is the belt that runs from the bottom of the engine to the rear axle.

I bought a riding mower md # 13an77tg766 i replaced the drive belt but it still wont move in first or second and 3rd just barley i dont know what else to try i have to be in 4th gear just to get it...

Tried to look up your model, but you must have not gotten all the numbers, it doesnt come up.

There should be 2 drive belts on it tho, and you should replace both, not just one.

Riding mower will not start or brake

The two are seperate issues. The switch on the brake pedal is on the frame and is accuated by the pedal, not the rod or spring. If you are not confident with a voltmeter or test light, then the Sears tech will be the fastest thing to mowing again.
