Tried that but it still keeps beeping and switching to wrinkle release and 18 on the display.

  • JustinP Apr 25, 2008

I am not much of a tech guy here but we have been making the dryer work by holding down the sensor dry button. So I do not think the key is stuck but I may be wrong. As long as pressure is on either the sensor dry or timed dry button on the keypad the dryer operates fine. But once we stop pressing those buttons it switches to wrinkle release and 18 is in the display and beeps intermittently. I really appreciate you trying to help me, I am willing to try anything that I can. Is there a way of making the wrinkle button not work but the rest of the dryer to work? Like I said thanks.

    Jim,

Yes the 18 is what comes up if you push the WR button, it is the time it runs on that cycle. I did take the cover off the back and saw what you are talking about with the ribbon wire. I found out how to run the dianostic feature on the unit and the 08 code comes up and it says that it is a stuck button. However when I run the membrane test none of the buttons show that they are stuck by flashing. I will say though that I believe that it is the wrinkle release button because whenever I unplug the unit for however long, it always shows 18 and wrinkle release on the display when plugged back in. Do you know how I can fix this? Is it expensive, is there a used parts place for replacement? Again I really appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Justin

Check the vent coming out the back. It may be plugged up not alowwing proper airflow. You might just unhook it for one load to see if that is the problem.

You may have a stuck wrinkle release key on the keypad. If you have an ohm meter you can check this be unhooking the power removing the control panel cover and unpluging the ribbon should be j7. Wrinklee is pin 11 to pin 15. There should be no reading until you push the button.

You can't unhook the wrinkle release key without unhooking other keys they share ribbon wire. I have look through the service info on your unit three times but wrinkle 18 is not anykind of listed error. If you just start the dryer hitting wrinkle release does it read 18?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
If you have already tried cleaning the vent then the problem is with the Thermal fuse. When the thermal fuse goes bad it cannot be reset and replacing it is recommended repair. It is located on the blower wheel housing inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct. You can test it for continuity before replacing, if that is fine the problem is either the door switch or the control board. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Following the permanent press cycle the dryer goes into wrinkle free mode. This mode seems to stay on for a long time. Is this normal? Thank you. Model #DV350AE

Wrinkle Free is designed to keep running so that unattended clothes do not wrinkle.

Need trouble shooting proceedure to enter self diagnostics for maytag neptune

From the service manual there is more to it but that was all I could put here.
Accessing Service/Diagnostic Mode:
Pressing down the damp dry and time (-) keys
for 5 seconds places the machine in the
diagnostic mode.
SPECIAL TESTS
The following table lists the various tests
available while in the Service Mode, which
can be accessed by pressing the following
keys:
Press Keys Special Test/ Function

dryer temp(v) Sequences down the
help/diagnostic code list

mode
Accessing Diagnostic Codes
After the machine is in the diagnostic mode,
a ‘d’ will display and let the technician know
they are in the diagnostic mode. Pressing the
wrinkle release key will access the diagnostic
codes. The diagnostic codes can be viewed by
using the temperature (^) & (v) keys.
The down arrow key will sequence down the
list one each time it is pushed with no wrap.
The first time the down arrow key is pushed
the display will sequence to the next code
logged. The last code being displayed being
the oldest code. The up arrow will sequence
up the list one code each time it is pushed
until it reaches the top code. If there are no
diagnostic codes available, ‘00‘ will be
displayed for the diagnostic code.
There will be no multiple occurrences of
either a diagnostic code or help code generated
in the same cycle reported on the list.
But if the same code occurs in repeated
cycles, it will be registered.
To clear the diagnostic code list press
wrinkle prevent and very dry (>) for 5
seconds while viewing the list.
System Check Mode
While in diagnostic mode, pressing the damp
dry
and signal (+) keys for 2 seconds, will
put the dryer into the system check mode.
"SC" will display.
This mode will allow the various inputs and
outputs to be controlled and viewed by the
technician by pressing individual keys. If no
activity is seen for 5 minutes after a key is
depressed, the control will reset back to the
normal mode. If no further activity is seen
after an additional 5 minutes the washer will
turn off. The following table lists the various
functions based upon on keys being depressed.
Membrane Pad Check
While in system check mode, pressing the
damp dry and sensor dry keys for 5 seconds,
will start a membrane pad switch test.
The membrane check involves turning all the
embedded LED on the membrane pad on.
All the LED’s can be toggled off by pressing
the key associated with the LED. To exit the
test at any point, press the damp dry (>) &
sensor dry keys again for 5 seconds or press

Try the door switch and see if it clicks to activate. Also, make sure that the dial is always turned clockwise so as to not strip the teeth. Could be the timer .

Time skips from 18 minutes to 6 minutes on automatic mode

It is the moisture sensor system, it is not sensing the wet clothes. Open the door, inside you should see a part with 2 metal bars that is around 3 inches long, clean these bars with a mult purpose cleaner. Sometimes fabric softner sheets and detergent builds up on this so that the machine cannot sense the moisture. Hope this helps.

Moisture Sensor Location

It could be the sensor. However, check the exhaust vent for restrictions first. you can test the moisture sensor Damp Dry Test 1. Set the following Timer- DAMP DRY Fabric Care/Temperature switch- COTTON HIGH Wrinkle Guard switch- OFF Signal switch- LOUD Door- must be closed 2. Press the PUSH TO START switch. After approximately 16 seconds, the Timer will start to advance to the OFF position, and the ?End of Cycle? signal will sound. If one or more of these functions do not occur, proceed to the Factory Test. Factory Test The Factory Test allows factory/service personnel to test and verify all inputs to the Even Heat control. The basic operation of this test is to notify the operator with an audible beep every time the status of an input to the control changes state. Activating the Test Mode 1. Set the following configuration: Door- must be open Fabric Care/Temperature switch- AIR FLUFF Signal switch- LOUD Timer- TIMED DRY OR AUTO MOISTURE SESING PLUS selection 2. Turn the Wrinkle Guard switch from OFF to ON three times within a five second period. A single beep will sound to indicate that the factory test mode is activated. NOTE: If any of these initial conditions are not satisfied, the control will not enter the test mode. Test Mode Functionality When the control is in the Factory Test mode, every input change of state will result in a beep (with the exception of the Signal switch). This includes: Door switch Moisture Sensor (short/open Sensor will result in a beep) NOTE: A moistened finger or damp cloth may also be used. Fabric Care/ Temperature switch Wrinkle Guard switch Push to Start (PTS) switch (with the door switch closed) Timer (any cam input change will result in a beep) NOTE: Timer will advance during test. If any of the inputs do not result in a beep, proceed to the following component tests If the dryer shuts off too soon when set to the AUTO MOISTURE SENSING PLUS cycle, check the following: -HARNESS/CONNECTION -MOISTURE SENSOR -THERMISTOR -EVEN HEAT CONTROL Procedure: 1. Test the Moisture Sensor by following the procedure outlined in ?Factory Test?, beginning on page 3. If the Moisture sensor fails the ?Factory Test? (does not produce a beep sound), check the Moisture Sensor. a. If there is continuity to Ground for Yellow/Red (Y/R) wire with no load, look for a short in the Sensor or Y/R wire. Verify harness connections both at the Sensor and the Even Heat control. b. If the Sensor and Y/R wire are good, replace the Even Heat control. 2. If Factory Test passed, verify thermistor by performing test procedures outlined in ?Thermistor Test? 3. If problem persists after replacing Moisture Sensor and thermistor

Problem when drying gets to 1 minute mark

This is happening when you selected the wrinkle prevent option or you set it to wrinkle release cycle.what it does is it is tumbling with no heat to release the wrinkle in the clothing. This is normal. It could also be normal part of drying in "regular" cycle
