Easiest solution is to hook the RF out on the 7800 into a VCR and let the VCR change that signal into a composite A/V out that your plasma will understand.

I just got Atari 2600 trying to get it to work on my plasma don't know how to hook it up?

Hello Jamie,
I understand how annoying it is to connect an older game console, such as the Atari 2600, to newer TV's. Do not fret, all you need is an adaptor to connect between the Atari's RF cable, and the coax jack on your TV.
For example (image curtesy of google search):

You can usually find these at store that specialize in electronic parts, such as Radio Shack here in the United States. The image above is actually from Amazon's site so if it doesn't show properly you can go to: http://www.amazon.com/Intellivision-Colecovision-Adapter-VINTAGE-WITHOUT/dp/B0028MXOF6

How do you set it up?

Oh boy this is a good one. Haven't played with one of these in 20+ years! First lets do inventory on he necessary components.
1. a 9 volt dc power adapter do not use any other size adapter make sure it is for the Atari System!
2. A slide RF unit ( it may be a silver metal box with a slide lever. on one side it'll say TV and the other says computer. If you don't have this box it wont work, but no fear Radio Shack still sells them.
3. A long single wire RCA cable. Usually about 10 ft long.
4. At least 1 controller ( they are black with a single red button on the top upper right corner)
5. A tv from the 80's that has an arial antenna input ( 4 screws, 2 for VHF and two for UHF may also some models will have a ground). If your TV does not have these hookups you can get a RF unit from radio shack or eBay that has the cable hookup on it.
6. A game that works with you particular Atari system.

Installation:
Here's a link to a video that is very descriptive on hooking it up.

Have fun! I still miss mine.

Vcr hookup

Try using a S-Video cable if your VCR has the connection. Otherwise, use a RCA composite-video cable on one of the AV inputs of the TV. The cable has a Yellow, Red, White color, the same as the jacks it goes in.

Vhs hookup to tv

Try hooking up the AV cables, unless it's an older model(1993-1998) then you might require a coaxial cable. After this you simply plug it into the wall outlet, but I would suggest a surge protector for a Hitachi. If that does not work, then it is simply not compatible, but it should work, good luck

Actually if you do have a ps2 you don`t really need a Dvd upconverter because Ps3 is a full Dvd player +blu Ray Hi Definition.I suggest to take the dvd out and just use the ps3 as a Dvd player
Good Luck

2600 atari

To connect your Atari to your TV, you'll need to get a "phono to f" adapter. These are available at RadioShack (part no. 278-255) for about $5.00 This adapter takes the phono plug from the Atari and changes it to a standard coaxial adapter. If your HD TV doesn't have an input for standard cable wires, you'll need to get yourself an RF modulator to switch the coax to RCA. If you have an old VCR with an unused cable input, that will work as well.

No A/V!

DOES THE SYSTEM POWER LITE GO ON? IF SO THE PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY A DIRTY GAME. YOU NEED TO CLEAN EVERY GAME BEFORE PUTTING IT IN. MIX ALCOHOL AND WATER, 1 TO 1 AND USE A Q TIP TO CO UP AND DOWN THE CONTACTS. IF THEY ARE BEHIND A PLASTIC DOOR, STICK A SMALL SCREWDRIVER IN THE HOLE AND IT WILL MOVE BACK. OTHER THAN THAT, YOU SEEM TO HAVE DONE EVERYTHING RIGHT.
