I've downloaded what i thought was needed for my dell 962 printer and it is showing up on my printers and devices menu but the computer wont print to it

Make and model of your computer and operating system is helpful.

You need to disconnect the printer. Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

If this is a Dell 093-962 try the following -
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Reseat the toner mentioned in the error. For instruction on toner removal and installation for your specific system please check the User Guide.
  3. Once toner is re-seated, power the printer back on and check for error.
  4. If no error reported try printing a Settings page.
    • Press the Menu Button on the printer.
    • Highlight Reports/List and Select.
    • Highlight System Settings or Printer Settings (depending on your specific printer model) and Select.
    • The Report should now Print.
  5. If the 093-862 error recurs please try another toner from a working Dell Laser Printer of the same model or from stock (If available).
  6. If the error recurs with a working or 2nd toner please confirm that the Toners used are Dell Branded.
  7. If non Dell toners are used please ensure that you have the 'Non Dell Toner' option turned on.
    • Press the Menu or Info button on the Printer Operating Panel.
    • Scroll down until Admin Menu is Displayed and Select (If there is no admin menu go to next step).
    • Scroll down to Maintenance and Select.
    • Scroll down to Non Dell Toner and Select to turn it on.
    • Re-start Printer for the setting to take effect.
    • Detailed instruction for turning on the 'Non Dell Toner' option for a specific model can be found on your systems User Guide.
  8. If toners are Dell branded and error recurs please contact Dell Technical Support for further advice.

COMPUTER ERRONOUSLY SHOWS MULTIPLE PRINTERS

simple right click on the one that is not the default and select delete.

if (copy 1) is the one selected default and you want the other to be the default, right click on the other one and select "make default" then proceed to delete the other one.

it's not wrong to have multiple printers showing up. sometimes is actually needed. what you see there is not the printer itself but a logical printer. you may have 1 printer device and several logical printers for that printer device (physical device), one logical device may be used for one set of users with one specific configuration while other logical printer device may be used for another set of users with different default configuration. although if you are the only using the printer on your computer you just need one logical device for your physical device.

click onj the printer ---properties and check the compatibility settings
make sure that the printer driver is downloaded from the manufacturer downloads site for that machine

Overiding Empty Cartridge error for Dell A10 962

maybe it have the ink level chip which can be resetted by removing the cartridge and oning and offing the printer for 5 times within 10 minutes coz it saves data of a cartridge upto 5 use before only.. and 6th time insert it.

Can't print

Step 1. Go to Control Panel--Windows updates; click Check for Updates--Windows is sending updates for different printers. If there is one install it. See if that takes care of the problem.
If not, go to Step 2.

Step 2.---Turn on the Printer---go to Control Panel---Device Manager. Under device manager look for any yellow exclamation point, if there are any under "Imaging device" or Portable Devices, then there is something wrong with the driver. Go to www.dell.com at the top type in 926 printer, the next page click on the first result "Install Dell 926 All-In-One Printer Drivers. Follow the directions one by one, start with the first and work your way down.

There is a firmware update release 1/6/2008 for the Dell 926
Go to www.dell.com home page. Go to Support and Help in the middle of the screen, put the cursor over it and click Drivers and Downloads; next screen identify your model: Select Model-Printer; select you product line--click on Printer; next page Select you Product Model 926 (Personal All-In-One) click on it;
then confirm Under Printers click the plus sign and it will give you 4 options, choose the firmware option. DO NOT INSTALL THIS FIRMWARE UNDER YOU HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE. SOMETIMES FIRMWARE CAN MAKE DEVICES INOPERABLE.

Please Help

Hi Christy,

The issue you are experiencing with your printer i.e error 2200 is related to "Scan Carrier Stall " I believe the steps mentioned below will fix the issue,

1. Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
2. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
3. Wait 15 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power supply to the back of the printer.
5. Plug the power cord back into the wall socket.
  1. Go to www.support.dell.com.
  2. Click on Drivers & Downloads.
  3. Under Option 2: Select a Product as printers .
  4. Locate the printer(s) 962 printer and click Go.
  5. Select an Operating System that is installed in your computer then choose downloads and look for Firmware.
  6. Download and install the firmware, then restart the computer and the printer, however please make sure that you do not restart your computer and the printer when the download and the installation is in progress.

Dell AIO 962 can't send scanned info

Try reinstalling the printer software by downloading the latest version from support.dell.com.Also try using the printer with a different system if avialable.
