Oki c5500n drum reset

Any idea how to reset the drums on this printer?

Thanks, Tony

I tried this and it worked for a few weeks. I refilled the toner as well.

Then today I received another end of drum life message for the Magenta drum. This time it won't work and now I can't get my computer to talk to the printer. It says "Cannot send command because the printer is busy or offline." Nothing I do will eliminate this message.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I tried resetting the toner on my C5500 like I did on my C5300 and I shorted out the board. At least this is what OKI support tells me. I still need a way to reset my toner so I can use refill toner.

To get the OKI C5500 to keep going (without opening and closing the lid constantly) in spite of toner cartridge & drum life messages:

1) Turn off printer.
2) Hold down "+" and "-" buttons at the same time, and keep them held down while turning printer back on... continue to hold until the word "OKIUSER" appears.
3) Use "-" button to scroll down to "FUSE KEEP MODE".
4) Press "Enter" button, hold for approx. 10 seconds, then release.
5) Press "Enter" button again, followed by rapid release and repress with hold for approx. 10 seconds.
6) Release "Enter" button, then press and let up one more time quickly.
7) You will see "INITIALING" and then "ONLINE" messages.

If you currently have an error message for toner cartridge life, the message will continue to be shown until after you've sent one print job, and then it will usually disappear for awhile. It will stay gone for longer if you have your printer set up so the toner sensor is turned off.

If you currently have a error message for drum life, it will continue to appear, but you will still be able to print.

Beware that you will have to keep a closer eye on print quality (since you are no longer relying on error message to tell you when your toner cartridges are in need of a replacement or refill, or the drum truly needs to be changed or refurbished).
Please note that anytime you turn the printer off, you will have to go through the whole process again when you turn it back on. It doesn't take long though, and will quickly become habit whenever turning on your printer for the day!
Good Luck.

Here is the answer for everyone
Before your printer drums or ink levels fall into the warning light
start up your prnter using the following method. Your ink and drums will never use the counters and you will just need to watch your print quality and replace as needed. You can get 2 to 3 times the use out of a drum and be able to use up all of the toner before replacement. It also puts your fuser and belt life on hold and they will never become used up. You must do this every time you start up the printer in order for it to work.
If you have lights on they may remain on during your printing but normally go out later. Best to leave the printer on in sleep mode.

1 Start the printer holding down the plus and minus buttons until you see oki user

2 Scroll down using the minus button until you see fuse keep mode.

3 When you get there hold the enter button down for 10 seconds then release press 1 tome quickly then press and hold for 10 seconds again.

Wa La you have the secret code Oki Uses to stop you from using this mode.

I believe you have to do this for every try it 4 times...turning off & on & repeating the entire sequence.

It does work...I've been using my drums FOREVER! :)

OKI c5600 drum reset

It usually resets automatically when you replace the drum/toner units. Are you trying to get it to reset before it's supposed to? I don't know of any way you can do that.

Keeps asking to replace image drum,

Every laser printer has a disposable drum that needs replaced after so long. Once the drum has reached the end of it's life, the most printers will stop printing until it is replaced.
Search Google for "OKI C5500n drum" and you should find plenty of places to buy a replacement.

OKI5500 color drums reset

No, when you need to replace the drum, you must replace the drum. You don't want to mess around resetting fuses on the drums. They go about 10,000 pages on the 5500; then start to make lines, streaks etc on the printout. Why would you want that.

Reset drums for c5500

I have the same problems many of you have with the Toner and drum error on my C5500N. I have not had much luck with Okidata support. I have had success replacing the chips in the toner cartridges. The replacement chips can be obtained from They sell toner refill kits for the printer as well as chips for the toner cartridge and replacement fuses and rebuild kits for the drums.
