Question about GE 168947 Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking

Electrical fire smell when on

Despite bad reviews we have read on this toaster oven, everyon seems to like it at home. Besides the refrigerator, it's the appliance with the most demand around the house. It just started one day, that when it is turned on, one can smell as if there was an alectrical fire or plastic cable cover burning. I oppened the electricaal pannel on the right side but cannot detect any burnt cable or connection. Any help is appreciated before the oven makes its way to the curb.

SOURCE: What is the electrical rating

most appliances that have heating elements are rated between 1000 to 2000 watts, which will give you a current rating of between 5 to 10 amps, check at the back of the oven for the ratings. use
the formula P=VI, P(power(w) and V(voltage) and I is the current(amperes). the cord will have a
current rating, go for around 15 amp rating

The heating element on my Hamilton Beach toaster oven 31134 has a hole in the covering and smells when I use it. Is that safe? Can I replace the heating element?

The element is failing and while it will probably not catch fire, it is better to be safe than sorry and just replace it. Does not look like a replacement element is offered. Sears has this toaster oven for $22.49 + $6.99 shipping.

Where do i find replacement element for euro pro rotisserie oven model number TO241r?

Euro Pro is now part of Shark. Despite my very best searching skills, I am not able to find an element for you. I am sure they are pretty generic, so you would just take the old element to a electrical spares wholesaler.

You could contact the company direct.

Delonghi xr640 toasting-finished chime not working

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

f the oven doesn't work at all, make sure the circuit breaker or fuse is on at the electrical service panel and test the electrical cord . If the oven doesn't work on its toaster and oven functions, test the main switch . As needed, check the fuse .
If the toaster function doesn't turn off unless the door is open, test the solenoid, the switch and if necessary, the thermostast.

Location of the typical toaster oven's thermal fuse.
If the toaster oven stays on when the door is opened, check the main switch . If the oven doesn't heat, test the heating elements.

Fan motor quit. I need a replacement fan & motor unit. Where may I purchase this?

My Euro-pro to241r toaster-oven may have some electrical problems internally. I have owned it for over a year and a half and am now smelling something like burnt plastic or rubber coming from the vents on the right side near the control knobs. I am concerned it may cause an electrical fire. Has anyone else had this problem? I will take it to Wal-Mart where I bought it to see what they say.
My friend tried to look at it but said you need star shaped screw driver heads to take it apart. Look for an online manual to see if you can find information about a fan, but it may not be easy to get to with basic tools.
Did you try looking at there website www.Euro-pro.com which is posted by the model number?
Radioshack may be a possibility.
Good luck, Tom

Door does not close

After 3 years of perfect service, our toaster oven's door stop closing easily. After reading the internet and trying to contact Cuisinart for a solution I was stumped and frustrated. Someone on the internet mentioned using wd-40, but I didn't want the smell when I toasted! I try cleaning the metal arm that held the glass door using an alcohol pad and that actually helped a little! After thinking about something to lubricate the door are with that won't smell awful and hopefully won't catch fire -- I decided to try olive oil! I took a little, very little on a paper towel and rubbed the metal arm a few times -- It worked!!!!!!! The Door now closes with the greatest of ease! and doesn't smell awful when you toast, so far it has not caught fire. Give it a try! I love to give it 4 starts, but Cuisinart support didn't have a solution... I'm sure even if I suggest to them my fix that won't share the info, but use at your risk! I am certainly not responsible for any mishaps that may occur if try my fix, but worked for me.

Your problem is very likely the timer switch. They are very poorly made and they have a high failure rate. B&D should have a recall on these switches. It's likely a DKJ/1-60 timer switch. They make a very poor electrical contact which causes the switch and possibly the wall plug to overheat. Mine melted the wire insulation at the switch and failed. These switches are impossible to find fortunately because they are all subject to the same failure. There are a couple timer switches made for Delonghi ovens that will work in the B&D and other ovens that use the DKJ/1-60 timer switch. One is part # 5218104600 which works the same as the B&D switch but it only has about a 13 minute toast timer. Turn it counterCW to turn the oven on. There is another switch with a 120 minute timer which is part # 5218101800 but may be harder to find. The 13 min timer switch can be purchased for $10.98 at Gourmet Depot website. Another solution is to replace the bad switch with a single pole single throw toggle switch rated for 20 amp's at 120 volts AC. You will no longer have a timer and you will need to turn the oven on and off manually but at least you will be able to use the oven and the switches are under $10 and much safer than timer switches.

I need a user manual for a Euro Pro Extra Large Toaster Oven

It shouldn't be a problem. You just use it like a regular oven and like a regular oven, you have to watch what you cook the first few times to be sure how it cooks. A regular gas or electric oven will be off by up to 50 degrees EITHER WAY (100 degree variable) from the factory. Toaster ovens are generally accurate to within about 10 degrees of the setting. Mainly the time it takes to cook something will be the only adjustment you should need.
