Question about Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000E Front Load Washer

2 Answers

Frigidaire Affinity washer gives E10 error and will not spin.Someone stated they relocated the "wax motor" for the door lock and cleaned drain filter after removing rubber boot. Could you please explain how and where to do this? My washer is giving an E10 code and will not do the final spin so that my clothes are completely soaked. Thanks in advance!

I have a Frigidaire Affinity ATFB7000EG0 front load washer. There are two main issues with it. One is an E10 error which is usually drain related. When this occurs, I can wiggle the hose in the back and hear water drain off. Once this happens the cycle will resume after pressing start.

Also, the washer will not perform final spin. It tumbles during the wash, but thats it. I've read it can be related to the door lock sensor. Can someone provide me with directions on locating the lock, replacing it, and where to purchase it?

    Thanks

It is indeed a door lock and switch assembly (part number 131763202) issue if the washer tumbles properly during the wash cycle but does not advance to the high speed spin cycle. It is a safety feature of the washer not to advance to the high speed spin cycle if the door lock is not activated or faulty to prevent injury should the door is opened accidentally. Disconnect power to the washer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Check the connection (J2 and J3) between the door lock and switch assembly and the control board. Make sure the connections are good and snug fit. Reseat the connections several times to clean off dirt and corrosion build up on the connectors and terminals.

Check the wiring harness connections on the door lock and switch assembly and do the same to the connectors. Replace the door lock and switch assembly should all connections are found to be good and snug fit.

The door lock and switch assembly can be accessed with the removal of the wire hoop holding the door boot to the outer lip of the door opening and peeling off the part of the boot near the door lock and switch assembly. Remove the screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel then take the assembly out of the washer cabinet.

Disconnect the wires from the door lock and switch assembly and connect it to the new one. Secure it to the front panel and put the door boot back over the outer lip of the door opening and secure it with the wire hoop.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to Fixya.com.

The cause of the error was that no cold water was getting through the cold water valve (inside the machine). Ends up there were a loose wire to the valve.
If there is no water in the unit:
1. Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
2. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
3. Verify inlet valve operation
If there is water in the unit:
1. Verify Drain pump operation
2. Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch .Verify there is not a siphon problem

  • Verify wire harness connections to: Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check all hoses for possible leaks
  • Verify pressure switch operation
  • Verify flow meter operation
  • Verify CCU operation
Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

Both hot and cold water valves are turned on. There are no kinks in the hose and drain pipe has been shortened. When I receive the E10 code, I have to pull the hose from the back of the washer and hear the water drain off. Once it's done, I can press start and it will resume the cycle but eventually stops again and I have to repeat the process.

Someone posted that you can check the filter for the drain where a black rubber boot is and there's usually stuff caught up in it. Do you know where I can access this from?

As far as the washer not fully spinning at the end. How do I check the door lock which is usually the cause of this problem?

All cycles are working except the spin cycle. I have visually inspected the wiring connections and motor and dont see any obvious issues. There are no error codes and the LED lights seem to be functioning...

Because of the high spin speeds of front load washers, the doors are equipped with a latch and lock mechanism to prevent the door from being opened during the washers operation. These locks will often be actuated by a solenoid or wax motor to ensure they remain latched during the wash cycle. This model uses a two stage lock that latches the door when the load starts, and then when it is time to spin, the second lock engages to ensure the door is properly secured prior to beginning the spin. When this second lock engages, it also closes a set of switch contacts (the auxiliary door switch) telling the control board the door is closed and locked. If for some reason this switch is not closed, the washer will tumble during what would normally be the spin cycle until the entire cycle is complete.

What does the code E10 mean? The washer flashes that code and won't spin. This is and Affinity front load washer.

Hi,

When error code E10 appears just take the cold water off the inlet tube to the washing machine, then clean the screen using light force air then replace the hose .Finally turn the water back on.This should solve the problem. If not the door latch needs adjusting or tightening up. It's probably something really simple like a loose screw.

Thank you !!

My washer wont do the spin cycle. everything else work fine but no spin

Hi,
The reason the washer won’t spin is due to the either of the latches on the door.
On the entire Frigidaire ATFxxxxxxx line of front load washers, if the secondary door lock fails, the unit will not spin. If you suspect this is the reason your washer is not spinning, do a check of the error log and you will find an E47 error has been logged. This error indicates the control board thinks the wax motor has failed because the auxiliary switch never closed. The customer will not see this error in the display, but it will be stored in memory. A quick resistance check of the wax motor will tell you if it has failed. Expect 1K to 1.5K of resistance from most of the wax motor heaters.

After finding the E47 error stored in memory, I would request you that the switch be removed from the outer door seal spring so you could pull the switch out the front. A quick resistance check showed the wax motor was open electrically so it was no longer working. Install a new switch assembly
, reattached all the wires along with the door seal. And now the washer will wash and spin.

ATF6000ES won't spin on the spin cycle

I had the same problem. It was under warranty...they replaced the main motor, the water/drain pump, the upper control panel and the lower motor control board. All these items cost more than the washer! I read a blog that said it could be the door lock assembly. My door lock assembly was working so I did not think that could be the problem...I took the assembly apart and found out it has a primary magnetic(electrically charged copper coil) lock that activates any time there is movement or water in the machine. That was working. The secondary lock is a wax motor that locks safety locks the magnetic lock during high spin. The wax motor also closes a circuit that tells the main board that it is locked and safe to go into high spin mode. The wax motor was bad...and did not engage so the machine, out of safety would turn off with no Error Message. You can replace the entire door lock mechanism for about $50, or if you wan to take 2 minutes to disassemble the door mechanism and replace the wax motor, it will cost you about $10!
The Neptun wax motor will work...Frigidaire only offers the entire lock mechanism replacement part.

I hope this helps you out!

Steps remove the top panel...Open the washer door....remove the two phillips screws...take off the three terminals. Replace...Should take 10 minutes.

I have a Fridgidaire Front Loader Washer _ Affinity. It has an error message flashing. E10. What does that mean? What do I do to fix it?

I have a Fridgidaire Front Loader Washer _ Affinity that flashed the E10 error code. I also had the problem with the fabric softener dispenser not emptying, and staying full of water. The problem was the cold water filter on the back of the washing machine that was semi-plugged. Cleaned the filter and now works perfectly. My machine is no longer flashing the Error code 10. The dispenser works perfectly.

Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000ESI - won't spin

I just had this problem with my Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000EE0.

When the machine seems to work fine (as it will wash but just won't kick into a spin cycle) it is most likely the door lock/switch assembly. In addition to the actual door lock solenoid and door closed switch, the assembly contains a secondary lock in the form of a wax motor and an auxiliary switch. This wax motor and switch activates during the spin cycle. When the wax motor goes bad the secondary lock does not activate therefore the spin cycle switch does not activate, which in turn disables the spin cycle. Even though you can hear your door lock kick in and the door is locked it is most likely the secondary lock in this switch assembly. Start by replacing it first.

Unplug the washer unless you want to get shocked! Take out the two screws at the back of the washer that holds on the washer top and remove the top by sliding towards the back of the machine and lift up. You can go to the front of the machine and reach down inside to the door lock while removing the two screws that hold it in from the outside front of the machine. Once the lock is removed there should be enough wire slack to get the lock up above the tub before you go and try to unplug any connections. Make sure and make notes as to where your connections go on the switch. Simply unplug the old switch and plug your new lock assembly in, remount it, and put the top back on. You should be good to go.

One note, don't panic if you select spin cycle and it doesn't start spinning immediately. Wax motors actuate very slow and smoothly. It could take up to a minute for the lock and switch mechanism to get into place before the spin will start.

Have a great day!
