Our dynamo CA04-26 pool pump is making a whining noise. Can we oil it somewhere? What could cause it to make this new high pitched sound?

The bearings are likely failing and they are not open to allow for re-lubrication. You can replace them yourself or take the motor to a local electric motor repair shop to have it done for you. A shop will probably cost about $40 to $50 for parts and labor. You should also replace the seal at the same time. The cost for the seal is under $10 and the labor shouldn't change.

Pump is making a buzzing/humming noise but is working

I suspect corrosion in the bearings, which means probably in the motor as well. If it runs nonetheless I'd just keep using it until it stops as once it gets to that stage it isn't economical to repair.

Engine makes whining sound

Take the belt off and spin all of the pulleys. the bad component should be obvious. high pitch whine is usually alternator bearing for the 98 3800 its timkin part# 100ccab or it can be the power steering pump(but the pitch will change as your steering if it is that) water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys(if you have to change either one, replace the tensioner itself). if you have the supercharged model there are a few parts that can whine( or the s/c is low on oil.)

Which way does the pump suppose to whine?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

A pump can whine for several reasons. Some noise is normal with a pump but when it is very noisy it is indicating a potential problem. If the seal is damaged it may whine and then it usually starts to leak(sometimes a seal leak allows water to get into the bearing at the pump end and reduce its lifespan). If the bearings are damages they will make excessive noise before doing other bad things. These are the most common noises indicating a problem.

If I hear one of these whines I usually make a mental note and let the customer know there is a potential issue. I give them the option of letting it go until it either starts to leak or worse or fixing it right away. Sometimes it operates normally for quite a while while other times it fails very soon. I hope this helps.

PAC-FAB / Pentair Dynamo pool pump parts, Discount parts for PAC-FAB Dynamo pumps

This site shows a separate part for the strainer body, but I'm not sure it is separate.
Call them with your model number and they can tell you if it unscrews and sell you the repair part that you need.
Worse case, you might have to see if you can remove the entire pump casing and purchase that.

I have Hayward Centurian SE 2 hp pool motor pump, around 15 years old. Just the other day it started making a loud whining noise. Is there a quick fix for this?

if its whining but still spinning, the bearings are done. If it just makes a loud noise, the capacitor could be bad or the bearings have seized.

Whining when i press gas

normally, the only part of your automatic transmission that will make a whining noise is the pump. it usually whines when iether the fluid is low or more commonly when the transmission oil filter is getting plugged up.

the power steering pump will also make a whining noise too.

turn the wheel all the way to the right and hold steady pressure against the stop. this puts maximum force on the power steering pump and, if the power steering pump is the one making the whine, it will change the sound of it. (usually louder).

if the trans pump is making the whine noise, it should sound different in neutral compared to drive. this test will really only work if it make the noise without the vehicle moving. if it wont do it at idle hold the rpms at 2000 or so.

if you decide the noise is coming from the transmission, and the transmission filter has not been replaced (assuming you installed a used transmission), replace the filter by removing the oil pan.

oh and also, if it is the power steering pump you should be able to make it make the whining noise while the vehicle is stationary. if it wont make noise unless its moving its not the power steering pump.

My pump is making a "high pitched" whine . The pump has a sticker that states " Century pool/jetted motor, Serial # CA05F49034, Part-7-193262-28, Type-SP, FR-w484,HP- 1.5 SPL, 12 Amps

could be its has air getting in when its pumping or the motor bearings are worn out or just dryed out it could even be a partly blocked inlet filter causing this pump to whine,
try looking for inlet pipe air leaks and blocked filters
or some thing resting on the pump impeller
