Ok here goes,
You seem to know a bit about computers having changed out the inverter. First, does it happen intermittentlly wher it's actually ok, then goes bad. And was it the same before you changed it or better know. The rason I ask is maybe you got a bad inverter, "it does happen". Otherwise it may be the video card. Is it onboard video? you can order these with a card but most are on board. If that's the case are you using the interface from nvidia to adjust the resolution, as it may be set too high, along with the other settings and drivers. It may be a combination of things, including a power drop in the video circuit. Tests should be run , "if you are able" run a voltmeter to the powersupply and see if it is spiking or dropping rather than suggesting meters and scopes that I am sure you don't have. You know thw last thing on the list is the lcd, How old is the machine?. Let me know some of the stuff I asked so I can start to eliminate what I am sure it isn't, Thanks,
I am around all weekend if I can help please don't hesitate, the thing is that this can be related to so many areas I would like to narrow it down,

Ok we just solved it, the inverter you put in is makinh and breaking contact. Do like you did and take off the frame and check your connections, i bt it's either a pinched wire, ot the inverter plug is not pushed all the way in. What you described and the several places that are causin it just makes me certain that something is just loose, give it a good once over and you should be fine, please let me know, I am ahppy for yo that that is all it is,

Sorry for the spelling, I am using this mini keyboard, 'mine blew out", so my big fat fingers are hitting the little wireless keys at a not too accurate rate, but I did want to check on you, how did it go,

Its not the inverter, it's your backlight. Hard work to change, sorry, and it might be cheaper/quicker to replace the whole lcd panel at $100 (£65)

SCREEN GOES DARK

this likely can be caused by an inverter issue. the inverter is a small circuit board that powers the LCD panel. these often go bad and you can no longer see the screen light up. however, if you look very close in the right light, you can usually see shadows of things on the screen (windows start menu etc...). This can also be caused by the LCD panel/CFFL bulb itself going bad (sometimes both panel and inverter).

If you have some tech skills many times an inverter can be bought off ebay for cheap and most of the time replace semi easily. Do not attempt to replace the CFFL bulb unless you really know what you're doing and hate yourself at the same time!

you may be better off taking it to a local (not geeks) computer repair shop and having them properly diagnose it. look for referrals for the shop and look at their google reviews too.

VERY Dim screen after a drop

Have you tested it with an external monitor?

I would say you either have a damaged inverter board or screen baclight lamp. Usually the inverter board fails in one of the following ways:

1. When you turn on the laptop, the screen lights up for a short period of time and then goes dark. You still can see an image but it is very dark, almost invisible and definitely not usable. When you restart the laptop, the screen lights up and then goes dark again. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
2. Your laptop turns on but the screen remains dark all the time. You still can see a very dim image outline. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
3. The laptop screen works fine for hours or even days, but sometimes it goes very dark as it mentioned above. When you restart the laptop, the screen works fine again.

Inverter failure symptoms are very similar to backlight lamp failure symptoms and in most cases you cannot tell which one is causing the problem until you replace either the inverter board or the backlight lamp. From my personal experience, inverter boards fail more often than backlight lamps. If you have to guess, replace the inverter first.

Disply screen is dark

Hi

Thank you for your query

The problem you are describing is related to your inverter board

The inverter board is responsible for ramping up the power from 12v to 240V to allow the LCD screen to light up

Please can you book the laptop in at a reputable PC shop for a inverter replacement

Dell ADAMO 13 w/Vista 64 Random power failure...goes dead in 1 second. Battery fully charged. Happened with external power and when on battery. I have latest BIOS v6.0. I ran pre-boot diagnostics...

If the power totally fails (i.e. power is cut off, LEDs turn off, fans stop, ... etc), then this more likely to be because of a short circuit developing in a failing semiconductor component, or a power supply problem.
However, if the laptop is still running & only the display on its LCD is cut off but the laptop itself stays powered on, then your laptop might be experiencing a failing screen inverter board, a failing screen backlight lamp, or a failing LCD screen cable.

TYPICAL INVERTER FAILURE SYMPTOMS

Screen is dark but icons are barley visible.

What you have is an inverter failure most likely. The inverter takes the AC adapter voltage and converts it to high voltage AC for the backlight bulb. Backlight bulbs rarely fail but the inverters do. Ebay has inverters for around 15-20 bucks. The inverter sits under the lcd panel behind the screen bezel. In most cases, removing the bezel is all you need to do to change the inverter out. Below is a link to the service manual for that model.

When you click on the link go to page 4-61, this is the start of the lcd disassembly. I thing just 4 screws need to be removed and then take your finger nails and pry off the bezel in a small area and work your way around the screen until the bezel comes loose. When replacing the bezel always start at the bottom between the hinges and work your way up and around.

Dark area on left side of screen of Dell Inspiron 1525

ok , i have had this problem on bolth my dell inspiron laptops , on a 6400 and a 1525 . the 6400 had the lower left corner all dark and the 1525 was split right down the center . i fix bolth of em in a really simple way , turn on ur pc and go into windows , press the blue Fn button and the down arrow untill ur brightness from ur backlight is completely down . keep it that way with the screen on with a screen saver for about one hour then turn brightness back up but not all the way up cuz in my case the problem hapened again , but when i keep it just one click darker , boom problem fixed . from what i can figuere out is that the inverter aint powerfull enought to power the backlight and tends to over heat , so keeping the backlight a bit lower tend the keep em ok

Medion laptop screen goes dark?

Shure 'nuff. Sounds like either the inverter or backlight. I would go for the inverter as that seems to be the more common item to fail, it usually is cheaper than the backlight, and easier to replace.
If you need to directed to an online maint manual, let me know.

REMOVE ALL POWER FROM THE COMPUTER BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT Try this first remove the control plastic panel above the key board, reseat the lcd cable to the motherboard. If no go you may have a loose or bad inverter. Here is how to fix this,REMOVE THE BATTERY,AC CORD.On the front of the display you will see some little rubber covers these cover the screws revove the make sure you put them out of the way, remove the screws remove the bazel.Below the LCD is a little card about six inches called a inverter make sure its snug(CHECK THE WIRE PLUGED INTO IT FROM THE LCD),since you got this apart you might want to look at the rear of the lcd the back panel comes off too but you will have to remove screws as well.THAT CABLE SHOULD BE SNUG AS WELL YOU CAN USE A PIECE OF TAPE TO KEEP IT SECURE.Now thats it for the physical display.Put everything back together and try again.
Good luck
