It should be at 750 mv or a bit less if in the system under load, test it out ot system, make sure flame is at the tip of the pilot generator, as the temprerature differentail across its body is what creates the 3/4 volt or 750 mv. easier to simply buy one, test the valve using a AA battery with a wire taped on each end, simulate a pilot generator by attaching the wires where the generators wires went, if it works its ok, and generator is bad

Jandy lg250n changed temp control still won't fire. any way to check millivolts

Yes, with a meter.
To check only the pilot generator, to see if producing enough Milivolts to operate heater, 'Clip' your meter leads to the ends of the pilot generator wires. Now push down on the gas valve knob in Pilot mode, and after a minute, the Milivolts can be read. Because the leads are NOT on the gas valve (most accurate way), you will need to hold down the knob, during the test.

To locate where an open circuit may be, why heater is not firing...
place one meter lead on one of the TH connections at the gas valve. The other lead will start at the next sensor in line away from the gas valve. Place on each side. If MV's present on 'in' side, and not on 'out' side that sensor is the reason. If no MV on 'in' side, but had it on 'out' side of previous sensor, then that wire is the reason for no fire.

Pretty much the only thing that will do that is the thermocouple not generating enough voltage for the valve to say it's OK.
Usually you need to hold the button for pilot lighting for 60 seconds. You can use a meter to check that it's generating enough power. The thermocouple has to be in the pilot flame properly.

How do I clean or replace the pilot generator on a Jandy Lite 2 pool heater? The pilot will stay lit but the main burners will not come on. Jumpering the gas valve will ignite the main burners and the

if the pilot stays lit and main burners wont fire you don't need to replace the pilot generator! you have an open safety, poor electrical connection or a problem within the tstat controls

No Heat. Replaced the gas control valve. Pilot burning OK

Try bleeding the gas line to the valve. They are always full of air after a valve replacement. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! Gas is explosive!!!! Does the valve "click" when the stat calls for heat? If not, check the wiring.

Need to light pilot light

You need to turn the knob on the gas valve (inside the heater) to the "pilot" position. Then, while holding a flame over the pilot assembly push down on the knob.

Gas should come out of the pilot and ignite. Continue holding the knob down for 10-15 seconds. Release the knob and the pilot should stay lit. If not the pilot generator may need to be replaced.

Turn the knob to the "on" position, close the heater and turn the heater on and turn the thermostat to hot. The heater should fire. If it does not fire and the pilot goes out, that may also indicate a pilot generator problem.

Heater fires 3 times then quits, light on control board quits blinking then minutes later it tries again.

It sounds like a weak pilot generator. They wear out after a number of years. It is trying to fire which means the safety loop is all good. Sometimes the pilot generator is strong enough to keep the pilot valve open, but upon call for heat the main gas valve isn't getting enough voltage to open (and a good voltage output from the generator drops to nothing). It's not too hard of a diy

Raypak rp 1200 - pilot is on, unit will not fire. 10-12 ohms in safety loop. 340 ma from generator with loop connected. 440ma with loop disconnected. Do I need to clean the generator/pilot orfice? If...

If this is a MV heater you need 500MV to run the heater. 200 to start the pilot and 300 to open the main valve. If your dropping 100MV on the safty circut you will need 600 or better to fire the heater. I would clean all the connections on the safty circut. I will usually change the whole pilot assembly, but you can get away with just the pilot generator.
It's hard to say how to remove the pilot as their are a couple of different ones and the heater you have listed has none, but a hot surface ignitor instead. Also it runs on 110 or 220v stepted down to 24v for most of the safty circut.
