Question about HP Pavilion M703 17" CRT Monitor

Open Question

I have an HP Pavilion m703 monitor which changes the screen shape to pincushion every time it is booted up or brought out of energy-saving mode. Naturally, I use the set-front menu to reset it but it never lasts. Any ideas?

SOURCE: monitor goes into power saving mode

A monitor switches to power saving mode when it is not receiving a signal from the computer. Check the lead isnt loose & if you have removed it recently, check you havent bent any of the pins.

Try connecting another screen and change resolution & frequency level to like 60hz, then switch back to your hp monitor.

you may find you have the screen resolution set to high, try changing to 1024x768 and try again. if this works it means your monitor ain't up to the job of your better machines.

My HP Pavilion 1903 monitor keeps going to sleep every time I turn it on

check in your monitor menu to ensure there is no energy save mode set. press the menu button on your monitor and check the settings. ensure that your pc also does not have an energy save setting set. e.g if the mouse or keyboard are not touched for a specific time e.g. 1 minute then switch off monitor to save power. make sure that such settings are not switched to on in your pc settings. if this is a new monitor and this was not a problem with your old monitor then suspect the monitor settings if the monitor and pc are both new. then suspect both settings. if possible test the monitor on a second pc or laptop to see if problem persists.

Which power supply went bad? The 250watt or the 480watt? If a power-supply goes bad (dies), it generally takes some (if not all) hardware with it.

Power saver mode problem.

Reset the Memory cards.
And if you have video card reset the video card as well.
and it will work fine and even if it does the same issue your memory or Video card needs to be replaced.

No display

Try your monitor by itself just power it on and nothing else hooked up to it, you should at least be able to see some diagnostic screen if the monitor still works. If not its probably dead.

Check and reset the Screen Saver to the settings you want, even if its set properly. Did this work?

If not, reset the monitor to factory defaults to flush its memory.

If that doesn't work unplug the monitor for a minute and replug.
