Hello,

Assuming you are not attempting to play it at ear shattering levels, this may be due to an alignment problem in the IF/audio demodulator, a bad audio IC or other circuitry, bad connection, or a defective speaker.

If your TV has an earphone or audio line out jack, try this to see if it is clear. If so, then your problem is in the final audio amp or speaker(s).

If only one channel of a stereo TV is affected, it is almost certainly the audio amp or speaker for that channel. Interchange connection to the two speakers temporarily and see if the problem moves.

If the problem is at all intermittent - try gently whacking the TV - then it is likely a bad connection - either a cold solder joint or a dirty or tired IC socket.

The audio amplifiers in newer TVs are almost always ICs and replacements are usually readily available. If the IC is in a socket, remove the IC, clean the pins and socket contacts and reinstall it. Sometimes, the contacts on old socket lose their springiness and do not provide solid connections. Such a socket will need to be replaced.

If the set uses discrete transistors, it s also possible for one of these to become noisy.

If your TV is fairly old - 10 years or so - this may be an alignment problem requiring tweaking of a coil in the sound IF. See your service manual. It may be possible to have similar problems with newer TVs but this is relatively rare.

There could also be bad electrolytic capacitors, probably in the power supply area. Even though you might think this would result in hum and there is none (even when there is no audio in the program or the sound is turned down) dried up caps can result in distorted sound that may sound like a sort of clipping. An ESR meter is best for testing (with power off!) but carefully jumpering known good caps across suspect ones (again with power off, then turn on the set and check), will eventually find the bad one(s).
Hope this helps...

I dont get a clear sound even though the picture is clear

First of all take the Audio output from the LINE OUTPUT and connect to an external amplifier. If the sound is still not clear then it is possible that the fault is in the SIF section provided this is the sound distortion from a Tv program/cable program. If this is a DVD or DTH input then the distortion can be from these input units. So please confirm on them.
If the sound does not have distortion then the fault is in the OUTPUT of the audio amplifier in the TV, Possible the output IC or the coupling capacitor are defective.

Sound from speakers is not clear

Try head phones. Are they also not clear? IF they sound ok then its possible your speakers have been damage. Try another source, Music mp3, Cd, etc. Are all the sources the same. If Headphones sound good and speakers bad then troubleshoot the speakers. If both sound bad then troubleshoot the software and settings. Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar and adjust audio setting. Try playing audio with windows media player and then play the same file/song with another software, I-tunes, quicktime, VNC, etc. Does different software play the file correctly and another play it not clear. Then adjust the software settings in the player thats bad. .. .

Sometimes my audio driver stops responding

Try this test: try repeating the "disconnecting all hardwares like DVDRW,HDD,RAMs,AGP card along with the power cables and then again re-assembled, the sound returns (this time its crystal clear) and this works for few weeks after which the problem occurs again.". Now ensure Windows restore feature is enabled. Then when "problem occurs again", revert the Windows registry back to the date when "its crystal clear". If the sound is crystal clear after restore, then you have a software or registry issue going on. If you don't mind reverting to system restore often, then stay in this recovery mode until your real problem is "crystal clear".
