Graphing doesnt show

Depending on the function you are drawing, it is possible that the graph is out of range of the windows dimensions. Try Zooming out to see a bigger portion of the plane. If you know where the function intercepts one of the axes, you might want to center the graph around that point.

Linear graphing on the TI-nspire

Turn Calculator ON.
In scratchpad, add a Graph.

After you press enter to graph the function you will not see anything because the y-intercept is at ordinate 254.47. To see anything you need to zoom out.

You will be prompted for the Center of new graph. Move cursor along the y-axis, upward. After a while you will see the graph.

Is it possible to graph the locus of Z on the TI 84

Define z=x+iy
Substitute in the equation [x+iy -1-i|=5
|(x-1)+(y-1)i|=5
SQRT ((x-1)^2+(y-1)^2)=5
Raise to the second power (square) (x-1)^2+(y-1)^2=25
This is the equation of a circle of center (1,1) and radius 5

To graph it isolate y as +/- SQRT (25-(x-1)^2)
or use the CONICS application, which you can download from education.ti.com
You can also use the Cabri Jr Geometry application or the Draw menu then the circle(.

My graph won't "reset" itself, after I went to the left of the origin and now I can't see any other solved linear equations

You can move the cursor back to the center of the graph.
You can also press [ZOOM][6:ZStandard] and the graph will be centered on (0,0).

I have the original TI-85 Graphics Calculator Guidebook (quite thick), but I no longer own the calculator. You are welcome to have it, since I was just about to throw it away. If you want it, please e-mail me at: [email protected] within the next week, as I'd like to get it off my desk. Thanks! -- Sandy
