Hi there, I have the MagTek MSR and when I sweep the card, I'm getting some character before a numerical code programmed on the card. Is there a way to disable sending this character? Kind regards, Damir

Im not sure about what it should read..cause it is different from one card to another ..but if you know for sure that only numerical code is programmed on the card ..than you see in the software (driver of the reader) ..under the options has to have displaying options...and setting s..there is the place to do it ...I would go to reset to default the reading process..or just reinstall the reader to be sure it is on the optimal reading settings ..

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm positive that only the numerical code is programmed on the card. On one card I have the code 93754 programmed, but the response from the reader is č93754_. In the programming app of the MagTek USB MSR I can send codes to the reader, but I don't know wich code to send. The app I'm using accepts only numerical codes (for user ID). I tried to reset and reinstall reader, I even tried several different machines with Win7 an XP installed.

what is the exact name of the device ..I am trying to locate the part in the manual that refers on what you need..or at least to make sure that the symbol in front is the way it should be read..

try to send the command 2 RESET_DEVICE and should get a )value ..means device reset successfully
By the way ..the actually data on the card starts with the offset 2 so ..if that symbol is in the first position indicates the code for the length or other encoding for the data on it ..this reading is probably normal ..but cause the encoding is not set or ..not recognized it shows different symbols..(this may be a code for different types shown in front of the number ) the manual says clear that the reading begins with the position 2..So if only this is affected and the reading and the identification works ok should let it be ..Also see if this symbol appears on all cards labeled for Id ..this may be the code for the type ..and in this try to make the entries with the number only the program you use for identification ..and even if the reading includes the sign..that is for the encoding will function ..the actual number needs to be associated ...

I was just researching this and from what I can find, that code means that the internal tampering sensor has been triggered, meaning the your device is no longer usable. It either has to be repaired or replaced by MagTek.

U have not locked ur card reader, u have locked ur mmc card. To reset ur MMc password insert ur card in ur mobile phone and follow these steps:

Go to the file manager on your phone, in the "Settings" option

, choose to see the system folders, In the "System" folder

on the phone there's a file called "MMCSTORE", send that to your PC using IR/Bluetooth,

then open it in notepad. The password you need for your memory card is in that file

Hi! I have msre206 but cannot function.

You must set the port in the MSR program to the port the MSR is plugged into.
If you don't know the port number. Then keep changing the port in the MSR program until the writer is

Their is more to it but the question you aked was pretty bleak.
