This should have happened automatically without any action from your part. Unless of course you have installed more than either the motherboard (4 GB theoretically, practically don't go beyond 2 GB) or the OS is capable of handling (3.2 GB on 32bit OS).

Your Bios should automatically detect it to make sure go to your desktop and right click on my computer-properties- General tab and that window should show you what is the current ram if is not finding it, you have to take it out and re install it until Bios finds it.

if it works for you, don't forget to rate me

thx

My T5212 computer doesn't see the 1gb of ram, why?

The RAM mybe be faulty or incompatible/wrong type for your computer.
Check the specification of the RAM that is required for your computer.
If you want to install 2 off 512 Mb RAM make sure the are the same make and model.

Dell latitude wont read 256 megs of ram only 128

The c600 can handle up to 512MB of RAM, so it's likely one of your RAM sticks is bad or not seated correctly. Are you using two 128MB sticks? Remove the stick from the second slot and turn on the computer with only one stick installed, and see if the RAM is recognized. Then take that RAM out and try the computer with only the other RAM stick -- if either is not recognized, that stick is bad.

If both are recognized, try reinstalling both RAM sticks and see if the computer will recognize them. If not, make sure they are both seated properly. You may have a problem with the second RAM slot if it is still not recognized. If you have access to other RAM, try that too and see if it is recognized.

I want to upgrade the standard 512mb RAM to 2GB. once installed do I just restart the computer or do I need to do something to allow the computer to recognize the new RAM?

Hi,

You should be fine to just turn the computer on straight away as soon as you have installed your new RAM. The computer will recognize the new upgrade straight away provided you have got memory that is compatible with the desktop computer.

When you upgrade the RAM take the old RAM out and make sure your new RAM runs at the same speed as your old RAM.

From what i can remember the maximum RAM speed that an HP pavilion supports is 400MHz although it could well be 333MHz.

The RAM that's installed in the desktop at this moment in time will have the speed on it so you check with that.

Regards.

I want to put ram in my laptop evo 1020v, but he recognize only 512MB how can I do. thanks you

When you say that it only recognizes 512 MB, I am assuming that this is after you installed the RAM?  - How much did you have before you installed it?  And how much did you install?
Sometimes it is as simple as making sure that the RAM chip is pushed in far enough.  Make sure the chip is pushed in securely.  Sometimes you will hear a click when it is in far enough. If it is not, the laptop will not recognize it.
Hope that helps.

Installed new RAM, PC would not boot up.

Will the PC boot? It may just be loose. Try it again. The PC may not boot if it does'nt recognize the memory.
