I have a dehumidifier that runs all the time but no water is collected in the bucket. It is obviously humid and should be collecting something but the bucket is dry

I am empting the tank of water every two days, need help. Thanks

Air conditioners and dehumidifiers are closely related. Any air conditioner operating in a humid environment will extract moisture from the air and with an outside or window unit, this collected condensation has an escape path and these are not equipped with a container to hold the collected water .
A stand-alone portable unit does not have any other way to dispose of the condensate other than the internal container . . .and you.
Your unit is not defective, you just have it operating in a high-humidity area.

Dehumidifier stopped collecting water, how to fix it

try humidifying the air with a humidifier to make sure there is humidity in the air for the dehumidifier to dehumidify. seriously no . Is the air coming out of the unit warm ? if not the compressor is probably not working or if it is very warm the refrigerant for the condensation reaction has leaked out. Buy a new one or return that one
Buy American and try to feed an American family

Do I have to put in water in order to make it colder?? and if so where...and does it collects water, at what point do i dump?? thanks in advance

You DO NOT have to add water. The unit collects humidity out of the air, if you're operating the dehumidifier, in addition to the AC part of the unit. It is not necessary to operate the dehumidifier and the AC side at the same time. Once the water collection tank is full, the unit should shut off and the bucket full warning indicator will glow. This is when you drain the water from the tank, as described in the Owner's Manual. So, just in case you have misplaced the Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download and print for future reference.

I hope this helps you.

We are smelling an odor as if something might be burning. emptied the water through the hose, and it drained out well. How often should we drain the water?

Most of the AC units, that also act as a dehumidifier, have a indicator light, that tells you when to empty bucket. Since you didn't mention who the manufacturer is of your Portable AC unit of the model number, it's hard to be precise. Check your Owner's Manual or if you have misplaced it, check the water collection bucket frequently and empty as necessary.

Hope this helped you.

Collecting very little or no water

Given all other variables are the same (location, average humidity, humidistat setting, etc.) I would speculate either:

- the compressor is not running as much as before, or
- the evaporator is icing up and blocking ariflow, or
- the compressor is not getting evaporator coils cool enough, or
- the fan is not running at top speed.

Have you checked for icing?
Has the humidistat setting been inadvertently changed?
Does the fan seem to be operating normally?
Do you hear the compressor "kicking in", or is it just the fan you hear?
