Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-46W3000 Television

1 Answer

I moved from Japan to Texas and my Sony 46w3000 didn't have any problems until about 3 months afterward. Suddenly, one horizontal band, about an 1/8 in width began to form at the bottom. This went away after about 15 min of the tv being on. Now, it has been six months and the bands have quadrupled and they come an go. The bands progress from bottom to top and do go away for a moment if you lightly shake the tv (very lightly). I have attempted the reset and do not think this is the problem because it does not help. I do think it is a mechanical issue (maybe a connection knocked loose slightly but enough to transmit image). The progression tells me, like a disease, the connection is slowly getting worse. Please help me with a solution to this problem. I have downloaded a service manual and do not mind getting into the back of the television and fixing it.

I called a repairman and he said that I have to replace the D-module. He also said that the D-module is the corridor for all of the transmission. So basically he inferred that I was scr-wed because the module itself costs around $750, which is roughly 2/3 the cost of my television. So, with that you think he is right or do you disagree and think I should still take the television to a repair place? Oh, by the there is a black ghost floating on the left side of the screen.

Uh, you need to look at the previous repair suggestion. The gentleman that gave me this advice said itwould cost thismuch

This is called a bad solder lead or cold solder joint when they started to use lead free solder in factories these issues started to bloom not just in your TV but others too. You might want to consider taking it to a shop locally to have the situation repaired I amsure if it is something that needs t rework it will not cost much say about $50 at the most.

Thanks and please do leave postive feedback and ratings.

Lead free solder cracks, case in point, other's would argue. $750 for the board or the job?

I feel you need to out wiegh the first comment with your first comment not with the secound comment. So if you where told $750 by this one Welcomejee guy, you might want to reconsider your options here. If its a loose connection and a rework need to be done $50 in materials is what it would cost not the actual labor my goof sorry

Reader suddenly went beserk, lots of activity as though I were pushing buttons to change pages, etc. and then it stopped working properly; some part of the screen shows correctly while most of screen is...

Probably a charge issue, try this:

1. Connect the reader to the computer for 15 minutes (make sure there is a red steady light)
2. Disconnect the reader and press the reset at the bottom
3. slide the power switch to turn it on
4. If the problem persist you will need to do a hard reset
5. If after a hard reset the issue is not resolve problably you will need to contact sony to get it repaires =(

Hi, I purchased the same model in November 2009. About 2 weeks ago a single horizontal line appeared. Each day another appeared until today when the video went out. Now it displays bands of vertical colored lines like a pastel colored rainbow. Did you find a solution to the problem?

Sony kdl-46xbr4 Black Horizontal Bands When I First Turn on TV

I had the exact same problem with the Sony KDL46XBR4. The problem started 11 months after I purchased the TV (Dec 2007). Luckily I placed the call to Sony just before the 1 year warranty expired and they replaced the entire front panel which is basically the whole TV except for the stand and the plastic frame. Last month the same issue started happening again (5 months since the repair). I called Sony and they say they have a 90 day warranty on the replacement part so I would need to pay out of my own pocket to first have the problem diagnosed (it's the EXACT same problem!) and then pay to have the repair done since the warranty has expired. I asked how much the front panel costs and it's $1,400! I paid $2,100 for the TV when I purchased it. Interestingly, at the time that part was back-ordered.....hmmmm, I wonder why??? Perhaps a recall is warranted here (no pun intended). Needless to say, I have sworn off Sony products due to their lack of support for this issue.

3) Scroll to SCREEN.
4) Go to HORIZONTAL CENTER. Move the picture to the right. Hopefully, the line will go away. Otherwise, there is a problem with the pixels or the signal processor. Call 1-800-222-SONY. Or, Have a high-limit credit card handy for out of warranty repairs. Sorry about that.
