Question about DeLonghi EAM3500 Espresso Machine/Coffee Maker
Unit show General alarm fault after warm up.
Any possible causes?
From page 21 of the owner's manual: Message: general alarm. Meaning: The inside of the appliance is very dirty. What to do: Clean the inside of the appliance thoroughly, as described in section 15. If the message is still displayed after cleaning, contact a service center.
Hope that all your machine needs is a thorough cleaning; it's not that difficult.

Dan, good morning, I tried what manual recommends, took machine to appliance serves and was told that control board needs to be changed. What is your experience on that. Also this machine has to have it's own surge protector in case of power default. That's what happened to mine when we have power surge going back and fourth few times- at that time I did not placed power surge protector. It turned out to bea pricy mistake.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.
