Cant ge the print cartridges out of my Canon MP830

I'm getting the alarm light falshing and error code 6A00. When I open the lid to remove the ink cartridges, they arm does not move to the left so I can remove, replace or clean the cartridges or that area... if that is even the issue! I replaced two of the cartridges with non canon ink used generic. That's when the problem started!!! UGH!

[6A00] or Light blinking 12 times = AP position error. It's mean there is an error occurred in the AP motor during purging operation. You may need to replace Sheet feed unit, logic board or purge unit. And also please use original Canon cartridges to solve your problem too. Thank you

Error code 6A00 shut down machine. How do you fix it?

The Problem Canon PIXMA MP800 Error 6A00
1. The print head cartridge keeps locking itself up on the right hand side.
2. Frequent 5100 errors even when the printer is on standby
3. Even when I wipe up the print cartridge, the next print will
mess up the bottom of the print cartridge with ink again.
Step for troubleshooting canon pixma MP800
1. Opening the cover and wait for ink carriage to center
2. Pull out power cord
3. Pushed carriage to far left (should slide easily)
4. Used paper towel and wiped purge unit a lot of times
(press down to soak paper towel with ink). Repeat until the paper towel is relatively clear.
5. Used diluted napisan (oxygen-based cleaning agent in the
ratio of 1:3 with powder:water) and soaked paper towel
6. Repeat step 4 with wet paper towel. Repeat until purge unit is near-white.
7. Pulled and pushed clear plastic wiper (north of purge unit) and wiped it down
8. Slided carriage back to original position
9. Removed Print head cartridge and wiped out excess ink stuck on bottom.

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Canon MP830 error code 6A00

HI,

Please the pixma off and open the lid.Now manually slide the cartridge-tray to the left.

Use a piece of tissue to clean the base-pad where the heads are stored.See if it is stuck in a kind of upward position and look if the mechanism that moves the tray is released if not then touch it and it will be loose. Remove all ink residue, move the tray back to its most right position and close everything.

Let me know if you still get the same error.

Thank you

My MP830 has an error code of 6A00. The assembly

6A00 means the purge assembly is jammed or worn out. Part number QM2-3032-000 around
$30.00. It's the cleaning assembly on the right where the printhead parks when shut down.

Error Code 6A00 Copy button flashing along with alarm light? Bought printer in yard sale and wont print at all.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.
if that doesnt help i ll tell u what worked for me
I found a thread that suggested Windex!!! Even though the error seemed to correlate with a paper jam that had occurred, I was ready to try anything. I got paper towels and windex (I didn't have an eye dropper). I sprayed the paper and cleaned where the cartridges normally sit. Nothing. In desperation I sprayed each pad below the cartridge in the middle area and I sprayed the "sponge" thingy to the right. Really soaked it. Cycled the on/off about 3 times and IT WORKS! (Fingers are black but that's a minor issue compared to unhooking and transporting and waiting and paying for service...) When you cycle the Windex through it soaks up the sticky dried up ink and cleans things up. Don't use other cleaners--use Windex or water.

What is error code 6A00

Its a position error.
Error 6A00 usually refers to a problem with the purge unit -at the right hand side of the machine, under the ink cartridges when in their home position. If you have had paper jams and removed the paper, sometimes a pice of paper gets torn off and when the printhead homes , drags this paper to the right and blocks purge unit. Open lid when machine is on to free printhead. Unplug printer then using a torch have a look inside for some torn paper (often this will be black as it is soaked in ink).
